Strut replacement?...

We're at 6100 miles, got notice for the emissions recall, I had a day off work so figured I'd schedule first oil change, too. And I have noticed a little bit of rattle noise from front left suspension for about a month or so.

They confirmed the rattle and put some "sound sensors" on and pinpointed noise to the strut. They said Ford doesn't do any small fixes, they recommend just replacing the strut. Offered to pick up truck from office/ home and bring it back. So we'll see how that goes this week!

It's literally a system with microphones. They use it to pinpoint sounds. You can temporarily install them and then change the channel for the various microphones while on a test drive to pinpoint where a noise is coming from

Yeah, when I read that, I thought- GENIUS!!! Otherwise it would be very tough to figure out where sounds are coming from. The writeup said they did test drive and verified the rattle I heard. Then they tightened up steering and suspension, then the sound sensors.

BTW They ordered the wrong part# the first time but second time they picked up truck from our house fixed it, and returned it- and sound seems to have been taken care of. No charge to us.
