Well, it finally happened. Noticed some fluid while washing my car and kind of figured, but took it in to get checked out and I have the infamous trans axle leak on my 2024 Maverick Hybrid. Only had the car 2 years and have 31k on it, so they said it’s covered but such a bummer. Will update with results. Said they will need it for a minimum of 3 days.

Well - you get the updated axle now at least.
And it happened before warranty expired.

Mine was at 20k for right side. Default setup and barely even gravel roads, let alone worse. No speeding thru corners - well, some Sport mode and curvy fun infrequently.

Definitely a bummer! Gotta take it easy I guess haha

I have some very slightly bigger tires on my car? But outside of that very basic backroad driving, some sport mode on the freeway when bored. Haven’t towed at all yet.

Mostly annoyed with the lack of vehicle, but it’s a weekend so I guess I’ll focus on something else.

Isn't the OP stating a transmission leak , not the axle problem ?

From my understanding of what they explained, the leak is typically a precursor to CV axle failure. They said most times it’s not noticed until the failure happens, so they needed to keep the vehicle to address the leak and inspect axles.

Ill update here when I hear back from them with what the outcome and solution is!

Update 03/14/2026:

No real news on the Maverick. Car has been in the shop for 8 business days now. Last update I received was on 03/09/2026 that “something worse was going on” and they needed to order parts, but the tech was gone at the time and left no notes to fill me in.

Fordpass app notified me that the car went into deep sleep mode on 03/11/2026, so I will definitely be making sure that is also fixed before they return it to me.

I’ll be leaving for a trip on 03/18/2026 for a week, so it doesn’t impact me much.

Will return for an update when I hear back.

For sure! I'm curious what the actual issue ended up being as they painted it as much more than just an axle leak. Was quoted 3 days initially and then told I may not get the truck back until I return from my trip.

My Ford dealer often has a few loaners, If not my insurance, I pay $30 a year for up to 30 days a year rental use/insurance.
They will bring the rental to me.
$30 a year pffft it’s a no brainer to me.

Update 03/24/2026:

Still waiting on the vehicle. Am told I will likely get it back today after they double check there’s no more leaking after yesterday’s fix. I’ll check back in again, but the shop has the vehicle for 18 days. Maybe I’m just unlucky with the dealer or shipping times.

I was curious about this too. Thought you were talking CV axles.

Where did you see a leak exactly?

Like on the ground, or around one of the boots on the axle?

Mine was around boot, but no signs of an issue driving - they swapped anyway - maybe a slow time and warranty work as good as any. Still took over 30 hrs.

But the time, and some of your descriptions - makes me wonder if a tranny leak issue, which some have had. And would not effect the CV joints.
But with undershield, would also be hard to spot unless you changed your oil.
