I finally got around to installing my 2M mobile rig in my Maverick. It works fine, but every time I key up to transmit my Android Auto connection disconnects and disappears, and will only reconnect after I unplug and reconnect my USB cable.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can/should shield in the Maverick to prevent this?

Mike, I don't have any tips on adding shielding to prevent interference, but I do have a funny story on the havoc 2 meter caused me in my semi truck years ago.

I had an early all band Icom 706, a fairly large 2 meter linear (i think it was around 300watt), and a pair of stack square loop antenna's. I mostly talked sideband 2 meter.

When I would transmit, the energy transmitted from the antenna's would turn on all the fluorescent lights in my sleeper. Would drive me nuts driving at night.

I don't know if it's still part of the reg's, but back then you were suposed to fill out a form that reported how much energy your station was exposed to.

IIRC, 2 meters is one of the worst frequencies for tissue heating, similiar to a microwave oven. When I did my calculations, the distance between my head and the antenna's, the antenna's gain, and the power output of my linear, it was marginal on safety. Luckily I didn't transmit that much. I was more of a listener.

Had the duty cycle been alot higher, maybe I'd have another hand growing out the side of my head by now.

Anyways, good luck on figuring out a work around for the Android Auto. :)

It may sound counter intuitive but maybe try a wireless dongle for android auto. And make sure there isn't a voltage drop when you key the Mike.

Is it possible a high VSWR could cause such interference? Worth a check although you've probably done that.

A capacitor ?
Like in the big amp stereo’s?
Holds up the power sag on key up ?

I wonder if you turned off fluorescent lights of neighboring rigs, Humm????
