Is anyone concerned about the decrease in horsepower in the 2025 2L?

Good question. I certainly am, and I have a 2022 XLT AWD 2.0. I have a 2025 Tremor on order, and I'm surprised more people aren't asking about how the decrease in horsepower has affected acceleration. I'm already dealing with the turbo lag on takeoff, and I certainly hope this is at least an unnoticeable change. I guess we will see soon enough.

I guess we will be see an answer to that question when some test drives are done and see if it matters much in regards to performance and MPG.

They added a particulate filter in the exhaust stream to the gas ecoboost version. Conceptually, the particulate filter is not unlike the particulate filters you see with diesel engine exhausts. It's an emissions thing.

just waiting for the first person to figure out how to remove or hollow it out without the ECU getting mad. My state has no emissions checks and I’d rather have the extra flow back and one less thing to clog over time

Are other cars getting this too?

Latest move to help meet emission targets. DPF has been a bit of a nightmare for diesel vehicles. Hopefully GPF goes better. Good news for 2025 hybrid buyers, no GPF.

Only 21 states have Californian emission standards and require the gas particulate filter. Those who live in states that do not follow the Californian emission standards will have the 250 hp engine. The ones who reside in these 21 states will have 238 hp engine.
