Same experiences and you're higher mileage than me. I do 300-500 mile roundtrip a few times a month in Kansas. The wind can be severe and it's almost always out of the north or south, and I'm often traveling east-west.I don't think I'll get a car without the ACC and Lane Assistance after having it for the first time in my Maverick. So far I have 25,000 miles in 9 months on my Maverick with about eight 12 hour drives. I used to be absolutely gassed after those drives but now I still feel great when I get to my destination. Not having to worry about the pedals for a few hour stretch is a dream and with lane keep basically does most of the work while you just help guide it it where in needs to be and make sure it keeps you in the lines. There's no fighting the steering wheel on the PA turnpike mountains anymore. The only minor complaint is the ACC does get up to speed a bit faster than I'd prefer once someone leaves the left lane.
The Maverick ACC can steer into strong crosswinds and keep the truck between the lines on 2 lane highways. I used to have a sore neck, forearms and shoulders after a long day fighting the wind. It's completely gone and I feel a lot better.
Regarding accelerating fast, have you tried eco mode? It does accelerate quickly in normal mode with my ecoboost truck but I don't find it strange unless it then has to brake right away. It's pretty weird to be caught behind a slow car, speed way up, and then 30 seconds later brake for another slow car. Eco didn't give me any more mpg at highway speeds so I stopped using it, but when I was experimenting I think it did accelerate more slowly while using ACC. I could be wrong, I haven't tried that in months.
