I did a test with my copilot 360 Lariat - The adaptive cruise is really pretty good. I drove from Nashville to Gatlinburg with a wheel buddy and the truck drove 90% of the time by itself. The lane keep assist alone tho is basically a bump it to the middle proposition.

I find it works well in the Maverick. To test on a long, straight, smooth stretch of highway I have angled slowly toward line, taken my hands off the wheel and Maverick corrected nicely.

That’s more promising than straight over the line onto the shoulder.
For sure - the "lane centering" will vibrate the steering wheel and you will feel it bump back towards the middle. The adaptive cruise will speed up , slow down to maintain distance and keep the truck centered between the lines. It needs to see the lines to be active - I use it in traffic quite a bit too.

I find it to be very good in the Lariat. I use it everywhere and all the time. It does well on two lane blacktop also as long as it can read the lines. The adaptive cruise will work all the way down to zero mph which is great for stop-n-go traffic with auto hold enabled. I'd say it is one of the better LKAS/Lane centering packages out there. The steering torque is quite good and will round most turns at speed without issue. In essence it has to be since it is one step away from Blue-Cruise. Yes, definitely this is one of my favorite options on my truck. Maybe Hyundai/Kia or Tesla are better but really not by much.

I’m Extremely Pleased with the ACC, lane centering, etc in mine. Zero complaints. You do have to touch the steering wheel every 15-20 seconds or so, that might not be exact since I never timed it, that’s fine with me, more safety and no illusion that you can just take a nap and forget everything

What, pray tell, are you people doing when you take both hands off the wheel on the interstate?

Why?

It's more like a game of pong in mine.
i consider it an option of last resort only. Very primitive.

Love the system in our Volvo, but that's twice the price. As an older guy, these systems save my bacon. You start to lose focus, lose vision, lose coordination and reaction time. Lane Keep Alert, Cross Traffic, Blind Spot Monitoring, Emergency Braking - all those systems rock for me personally.

My XLT LUX with CP360 could be better, but I'll take the blind spot and cross traffic for sure. The OP mentioned tracking. One thing that bugs me about my AWD is how poorly it tracks down the road. It takes constant attention. I'm not a suspension engineer, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the AWD setup. My old RWD Ranger used to track absolutely straight. This Maverick - you gotta watch it.

The Lane Centering has worked great with my Lariat so far and I've had it on both times I went to Milwaukee & back (about 50 mins each way). The lane keep doesn't seem to work as well in the city mostly because the painted lines aren't the greatest in the city, I think with some fresh paint it would work nicer.

while I agree with this answer, it's not actually what the OP is asking, in my opinion.

the adaptive cruise available in the Maverick lariat luxury package (plus CP360 Assist for MY23) is very, very good. I love it.

my wife's Bronco has adaptive cruise also, but it's just a shadow of what the Maverick can do, which is very frustrating given that all Broncos cost a lot more than an equivalent trim Maverick. but even more to the OP's point, when not using ACC in the Bronco I do have lane keeping enabled with assist.

I've done about 3k miles in the Bronco and 12k between two Mavs with ACC, so that's my experience with them before I write this next part.

The Bronco's lane keeping is more aggressive. It will nudge you if it thinks you're getting near a line and might cross. The Maverick will often wait until you do cross. If the OP thought the Bronco's was useless then he is going to find the Maverick's equally useless. Furthermore, he expresses a desire to remove hands briefly and I think he's looking for more autonomous driving features.

For that, buy a lariat lux with CP360 assist. It's wonderful but it is not hands free. If you take both hands off to remove a jacket or something, that's about the amount of time you have before it starts complaining that you aren't holding the wheel. This system has been around since at least 2007 on other Ford models like the Edge and F-150, and it can be tricked. It's looking for weight rotating or resisting rotation of the wheel. It does not have grip sensors.

It's not Tesla Autopilot and if someone cuts you off slowly it will react way, way slower than you should intervene and manually brake appropriately. You can tap the brakes and let the cutter in whereas ACC will wait and then slam on the brakes, which is not a lot of fun and maybe dangerous if you're being tailgated.

I tried to like the lane assist in the wife's 2020 Escape but found it allowed the car to get too close to the line before correction so just left it turned off.
Looking forward to testing the lane centering in my Tremor order.

I bet it's a 1 pound weight velcro strapped to the steering wheel.

I know someone who was using that method and did not have their hands on the wheel when they went off the road and through some bushes at like 60 mph. Did not total their truck, but did a lot of damage to their plastics and paint, and scared the hell out of them.

Maverick ACC is stage 2 in that chart. Thinking it's higher and tricking ACC to drive without your hands is really dangerous. That said, it's so good that it is very possible to do other things that would be dangerous like read emails on your phone while keeping a hand on the wheel.

Just be responsible. If you can do that with a weight attached to the wheel, that's your call.

I don't think I'll get a car without the ACC and Lane Assistance after having it for the first time in my Maverick. So far I have 25,000 miles in 9 months on my Maverick with about eight 12 hour drives. I used to be absolutely gassed after those drives but now I still feel great when I get to my destination. Not having to worry about the pedals for a few hour stretch is a dream and with lane keep basically does most of the work while you just help guide it it where in needs to be and make sure it keeps you in the lines. There's no fighting the steering wheel on the PA turnpike mountains anymore. The only minor complaint is the ACC does get up to speed a bit faster than I'd prefer once someone leaves the left lane.
