I have a 24 XLT. I guess I can count myself amongst the fortunate as it seems Ford has in fact made it more difficult for 25+ model years to install the eliminator. It was not difficult at all. I didn’t even have to take the console apart or remove it. The switch that has the start stop switch, drive mode, brake hold, and traction control buttons, came out with a little effort by sliding a credit card on each side of the switch and the console housing disengaging the tabs. Then using a plastic pry tool to pop it out, disconnect the harness from the bottom of the switch, plug in the eliminator, then the harness back in. Snap the switch back in the console. I recognize that 25+my are designed and configured differently, and apologize for rubbing salt in your wound, but this may help those with 24 and earlier years.

That plugging that Chinese designed PCB and workmanship into my factory harness scares me more than using Forscan to disable auto start/stop on the module itself. There’s no way they plug these into a test fixture to QC checks.

Are you OK plugging in Chinese manufactured accessories into the USB ports? Dash Cams,, wireless dongles, LED lighting kits directly into harnesses? I could list several more examples but the point is I think there is an inherent risk when plugging in anything electronic related, or any electrical modification on these vehicles today.

The trailer plugs are another example. I read of lots of things being plugged into them. The eliminator simply records and saves the last position.

Thats a little pedantic.. theres a difference between 12v power or a wireless usb carplay dongle vs a vehicle specific connector to alter the behavior of vehicle functions.

I would view one as an inherent risk higher than the other, absolutely. For example one of them is now covered with a security rivet blocking access, vs a usb port or tapping into 12v for dashcam power.

I'm also curious what the dealer will say, hopefully its a relatively simple thing to get the truck back in action.

Why do you believe it's an impossibility that they QC test the units?
