Hi everyone,
I am working with Military Auto Source to buy a 2024 Maverick Hybrid XL with Co-Pilot 360. They quoted me:

- Price: $23,715
- Hybrid: $1,500
- Co-pilot: $649
- Owner Protection Plan: $2,367 ( 7 years/75000 miles warranty)
- Destination Charge: $1,595
- Delivery Point Processing Service: $300 ( dealer fee : paper work, clean, full gas tank.....)

Military Incentives: $500 OFF
-------------------
Total: $29,625

Please note, this price does not include tax, license, registration

How can I negotiate down the price?

I’ve seen some comments here and on Reddit that people paid around $23k - $25k OTD (include tax, register, title…).

EDIT: this is custom build. Delivery date estimate Mid August 2024

Decline the bogus "Owner Protection Plan".
Will they accept the Farm Bureau rebate? If so, sign up for membership in IL for $20 and you'll save $500 off MSRP.
Otherwise prices are really close to what build and price shows for this build.
Consider adding the tow hitch for $100.

Sounds about right except "Delivery Point Processing Service: $300". I don't know what your "Owner Protection Plan" covers but you may consider dropping that since you already get a 3 year warranty. Some here have gotten their warranties from Granger for a great price. I don't think there's a lot of room for negotiation for Mavericks right now. That's about what I paid for a 24 XL Ecoboost AWD 4K tow CP360. I didn't get a military discount but I did get the Farm Bureau discount of $500.

“Owner protection plan” and “delivery point processing” for the sum of $2,867 is them reaching in your pocket and taking it. Maybe a year ago these bs upcharges would fly because of demand but now there are mavs on lots selling at sticker price. Long McArthur ford has an XL hybrid on their lot at the moment for msrp, along with over 50 other maverick choices.

Ordering a hybrid XL may be problematic at this point however. It would be a real roll of the dice as to whether it would be built this model year, because of a number of reasons. It’s definitely possible, but not guaranteed.

Here is how he explained to me

Maximum care is a 7-year/ 75000 miles bumper to bumper warranty worldwide. (See attached info.) optional.

Delivery point processing is what is paid to the dealer to prep your vehicle for delivery. This is all the dealer gets for taking care of our military customers.(full tank of gas/cleaning/paperwork).

What is MSRP on the sticker?
Pay that, minus your military rebate, plus standard doc fee and state taxes/registration. Nothing more.

Buy the warranty later from Flood/Granger.
Remember, the basic warrantys from Ford are 3/36 bumper to bumper, 5/60 powertrain and hybrid components 8/100. You have time as the extended warranties can be purchased later. You can look up Granger and Flood prices online.

Thank u, i will look into it
Look up the Ford PremiumCare warranty cost that best fits your needs. If you want an extended warranty, provide the prices you find and give your dealer the opportunity to match, or at the very least be competitive. I would absolutely refuse an "Owner Protection Plan" if it is a dealer sponsored 3rd party coverage and not Ford's PremiumCare.

My 10 year 125k mile Ford PremiumCare with same day rental and lighting coverage was less expensive than what your dealer is charging for their unknown warranty.

If they insist on the additional costs, walk away and go to another dealer. The first dealer I went to tried to add around $1500 of bogus fees. I walked out and went to a different dealer in my area.

Exactly. These are bullshit dealer upcharges. Also, full tank o' gas is supposed to be included at no up-charge.

My '23 XL Hybrid with nothing but CP360 added was $23,339 OTD. Only fee was $129 doc fee. Of course, a '24 should cost more (most all new vehicles have gone up), but not much more.

As for extended warranties, if you want to add one, you have a year before the prices go up on those. Buy a FORD warranty directly from Granger or Flood online. The Hybrid part of the truck includes an 8 year, 100k warranty from Ford - no additional charge.

I almost ordered through them, decided to support a local dealer instead. I don't think you can "haggle" anything- but they also won't add any bogus stuff on there. I wonder if MAS gets enough allocations to get the truck in a timely fashion? I would DEFINITELY ask them. If they don't, you may wait a long time.

It's nice to not have to haggle for stuff at the dealership. MAS is based I think in Switzerland, which is why you can't buy from them after you've been home (more than 90days?). You're getting everything in writing rather than last minute surprises like 90% of dealerships like to do.

DEFINITELY consider the Protection plan vs other plans which are out there.

ALSO, ask them where you can pick up- the nearest place to me was an hour away.
