No thanks! I’m perfectly happy with my ‘22 hybrid Lariat! I plan on keeping it as long as I possibly can!

Slate represents another choice. If and when it appears on the market, as a free American citizen, I will have the choice of a Maverick, a Telo, a Santa Cruz, or a Maverick. Maybe even other choices - wouldn't that be nice?

It is so strange to see people beating down a newly announced vehicle. Like it threatens their sense of identity or something. I just don't get it.

Pfft, people said the same thing about Aptera. People put their deposits down in July 2011, and we are told any day now it will be in production! Well, maybe not production, but final testing, maybe 2026? If not then, 2037 at the latest!

I think it's awesome. Just put down my (refundable) $50 reservation.
NOT on the SLATE TRUCK, but on the SLATE SUV version.

Ford Maverick $24,950 SLATE Truck News & Info 1745590945706-yj

It's not enough TRUCK for us (want AWD and more towing) so our new 25 Mav Lariat Hybrid checks that box. The MAV is a nice enough interior, quiet and comfortable with decent highway MPG that it's also our designated out-of-town cruiser.

What is missing is a super efficient grocery-getter. Something for the around the town trips less than 100 miles. Groceries, Dr. Appts, etc. We're using the MAV for that now, but a low cost but high-tech EV with some utility is a better match. We have a 220at home and 150 miles is plenty for us.

The specs on the SLATE are good (not great). For us, the 0-60 time, charge time, etc are all acceptable.

The SLATE SUV looks like the perfect companion to our Maverick. It's not a competitor, it's an accessory :)

If I hadn't just spent my monthly fun-money on a truck, I'd probably buy that truck.

I watched the video, did some searches etc. It sounds like this vehicle is exactly what some of the Luddites on the forum want - roll up windows, no screen, minimal electronics, customizable, built in the USA from parts sourced in the USA. The $20k price is predicated on the Federal incentive [tax credit] for EV's. Let's hope that our current gov't doesn't screw with that and sink the ship for this company that seems to tick all the "Made in the USA" boxes.

I'll wait for a 1.25 two cylinder 25 mile PHEV (or a rotary) with 10-12" behind one row seats and 6'4" bed "camper special" maybe 5" narrower than maverick.

I like the concept but If you actually bought it, it might end up going out of business; then good luck getting parts and repairs.

It's definitely Bronco inspired when it comes to the design. It's got the round headlights, rectangular grille, thin/vertical taillights, spare tire on the SUV version an basic proportions. I like it. I'm sure it'll be a smash hit. Like someone else already mentioned, there's definitely a market for these.

My Mav is just fine... When they stop selling gasoline, maybe I will look into it...

The title kind of kills the thing... "$20,000 with Gov. incentive".
Which means... "I AM" paying for this thing and not even owning one... 😒

Said to be $25k base price, not $27k.
But that was the early report before they just told us $20k with the 7500 tax incentive... Too much money for what it is. If you have to use the tax break to make it affordable when it is this bare bones something is wrong. You get a lot more for the same money in the Maverick to be honest.

I like the fact that I can use my 11" tablet as my infotainment/info screen and put in the speakers that I want to.

What hasn't been addressed is when you install the rear seats, how do people access them? No side doors are seen. Do they climb over the sides? Do the front seats move out of the way and you have to wait until all rear passengers are in?
