I picked up an XL last week. I could have sworn that the holes in the bed up near the cab for a tie down D-ring looked like they were threaded, and maybe even the ones up on the side. I was searching here to see what size bolts and rings people were ordering and it looks like I need to get a tap because the holes aren't threaded, but now I can't tell because I already got Line-X sprayed in. Although this definitely seems true for older models, an anyone confirm with a 2025 XL that the holes are not threaded? I guess even if they are, I might need a tap just to get the Line-X out of there.

My 25 XL was threaded. I have the factory SIBL. The taps clean threads making it easier to use but I have put bolts in some without using a tap first. The above link is spot on as to sizes. I have used them all, installing a front molle panel and two side rails.

Okay so it sounds like unlike previous years, the 2025 XL has threaded holes. If I didn't get a spray in liner in the holes, I wouldn't have to tap, but with the hole full of LineX, I'll probably have to. Maybe I'll try threading in an M8 bolt first before I buy a tap to use once.

I did read that thread that a couple of you posted before I posted the question... it is what made me realize that my holes might not be threaded. I'll get a tap as recommended to clean the liner out of the holes, since a $10 tap is worth more than the hassle of a sheared off bolt or mangled threads.

It does sound like the 2025 XLs come with threaded holes based on a comment above. So no tapping necessary if you're not not getting it sprayed, or if you plug the holes prior to getting a sprayed in liner. Haven't seen a picture of a naked 2025XL bed with threaded holes yet though to confirm that. Definitely seems like all prior years they were not threaded, based on other threads.

I wouldn't use a tap just yet, try a wire brush attachment for a drill and spin that in there, I don't know if it will work, but it's a less aggressive option then use the tap if you must.
