Anyone get a no key detected error? Its happened 3 times for us with both our keys.

Car seems to turn on fine, but when you go to put it into drive, the dial remains locked in parked and says no key detected.

So many random software glitches with this car, it worries me that it'll leave me stranded one day.

Update 7/26/25: fortunately this error hasn't surfaced again so far. Hopefully it stays that way :)

Sorry I couldn't see what you had. I'll delete.
No worries 😀 I review a lot of documents at my work because we just can't afford to make mistakes, and it's amazing how often the brain fills in what it expects to see, vice what's actually written.

I'm happy to state that the warning hasn't come up again ... a trend i hope continues :)

I was leery of the Maverick in 2022. So i waited until bugs were worked out. When I saw the 2025 had a new touchscreen and dash system I went with A 2024. I expect many recalls on the 2025s for software issues.
Plus the 25’s have a brand new engine & upcoming GPF’s. I’ve never purchased an “extended warranty” in any of my multiple new cars over the decades - until my 25 Maverick. Mainly for the peace of mind of getting a “free” rental if the 25 Maverick sits in the shop getting “free” service…$28/mo for 66/mo’s for the “platinum” oh well.

It did happen again to my wife at the gas station today and was stuck at the pump. It seems the truck gets is signals scrambled and cannot communicate with the key properly. Leaving the truck and going into the food mart seems to help reset it. A frustrating bug when it occurs.

So the transponder in the key gets a bit of juice from the reader's air signal - which in this case as most keyed ignitions, is a ring around the key slot.

Many times the problem with the cheapest keys - the power should be available, but the ability in the fob is broken to send out the signal at all, or high enough level to be received.

Not saying Ford's keys are cheapest - but either that or the ring reader isn't sending out high enough signal to energize the key to a high enough level.

Both those aspects can be tested by dealer - but being intermittent - we know what they'll find.

Unless you can figure out what is causing it this rarely - I'd say glitch on truck side.
Because it's unlikely a key side would start having problems but get better. Once something breaks inside, it doesn't repair itself.

This last incident though in public place like gas station - hmmm.
Be curious if a vehicle nearby left as she waited inside.

I have a 23 XLT with key. After a few months from new, my key would not unlock the doors unless you were touching the key fob ON THE GLASS while hitting unlock button. Wife's key worked ok. Took to dealer, it ended up being a bad fob and they replaced. All good. Maybe dealer could reprogram the key/and or fob? What are the odds though of BOTH keys acting up at the same time? Sounds more like the truck software to me, but perhaps the dealer can reboot or reflash whichever module. Good luck. I really like the older vehicles where run hot to positive side of coil, screwdriver along the two posts on solenoid. Drive away! "Borrowed" my dads Dodge like that once when he was at work. He found out. Grounded for a month for my little theft episode. No lock steering wheel, but I knew a way around that one to!
