2025 Order (Canada)- does my dealer know what's going on?

I placed an order on April 28 and the dealer's communications has been... poor. I chase them once a week to find out, well, anything, and the last I was told was 'it should be six weeks', but I really doubt that, especially with shipping times. I've never bought a new vehicle before so I don't really know what questions to ask and I'm concerned that it hasn't even been ordered. Any advice on asking the right questions?

I do not. At what point are those generated?

Your dealer should be able to supply you with a serial number and an order number within a few days of the order being placed at Ford. With that info, you go to https://www.ford.com/myaccount/vehicle-order-tracking and you'll be able to see estimated production date, etc

We got the serial number within 10 days of ordering. The order number is supplied by the dealer. If they won't supply you that info, they probably haven't placed your order at all

FYI mine was 10 weeks

PS the window sticker will become available sometime around the time your truck goes into production, you can find it on https://www.windowsticker.forddirect.com/

If you have the VIN number you should be able to look up the rest. You just need your dealer to give you the VIN and the order number and you can track the rest.

Seems like a VIN is only issued once production is scheduled, so I guess I just wait (im)patiently!

If it has been scheduled. You/ they have Will receive a vin ..
You can use the online ford.ca to track up until they ship. neat process. I followed mine.

I ordered on Dec 20. Got a vin and order number from my dealer about 2 weeks later.
my truck built mar 6 , shipped on mar 12
And I picked up from my dealer on Apr 12
Up in bc.

No. Serial number is the VIN. It's issued when the order is accepted by Ford, in my case within 10 days of placing the order with the dealership

Unless its different in Canada, indeed VIN is only assigned when production is scheduled. In my case order placed on Feb 20th, VIN number wasn't available until April 17th in an email when it was scheduled for production which is June 2nd.

This was my first ordered new vehicle and I was not happy with the communicating from the dealer either. I suggest watching Tim's videos https://www.youtube.com/@longmcarthurford specifically the "scheduling information" type. Here is a short summary that should be very helpful

Is there a way besides asking dealer - how many allocations they got/used?

And at this point, if they had none, it would mean waiting until June, if they had some then, right?

Just wondering if he could call another dealer, confirm allocation up front, and then have that dealer call current dealer and say forget your order.

Because after hearing Tim comment on a past video they had no allocations for a month because they choose not to, due to excess stock, I'm kinda wondering on that factor with OP's current dealer.

We ordered our Lariat, hybrid, 4k Oct 6th. Took it home 25 Jan, 2025.

Large volume dealer, in Winnipeg...only info was dragged out by appropriate timed contact, never got VIN, etc.

Sure do love our Mav and it is still being broken in with this fuel mileage...one on a hot day 30 celcius, other on a cool day 3 celcius. Both in city driving.

Still all quiet! Dealer says block heater recall likely affecting build schedule. Order April 28 - no schedule yet. Glad I didn’t sell my truck just yet! On the plus side I thought I might need to finance $10k but I’ll be able to save up by the time it is built!

Ordered Velocity Blue Lariat April 21st, just got the build date of Aug 12th today. So, about 4 months, and 6 weeks to get the build email. Also glad I have not sold her 2001 Ford Sport Trac 4x4 with skid plates (Still going at 187,000 miles).
