So this has actually occurred a few times now only this time I can't seem to resolve it. I imagine someone else has had this happen at some point.

Occasionally Android Auto won't start up. I have found that it seems to occur after the odd occasion where my phones battery gets really low and bluetooth turns off or perhaps when I leave the vehicle running and exit it taking my phone with me. After that it seems that Android Auto will no longer start up wirelessly as it typically would.

My solution has always been to delete the phone and vehicle from respective bluetooth menus and restart both of them. Then after re-syncing it seems to work, although often at first the phone will merely connect to bluetooth (no wireless AA) though the next time I get in the vehicle android auto will start up.

This time however I have tried several attempts and it won't come back. In fact the screen of my phone even displays something like "To continue, select Android Auto on your vehicle screen." But when I look in the phone list there's no option to connect to android auto.

Anyone else experience this? Any ideas?

I've had that happen a few times. If you are using a VPN on your phone, android auto will not work.

Other times I have had it randomly decide to connect to my second phone as well. Be nice to set a phone priority order, Ford. 🙄

I'm on a pixel 10 Pro XL / 2025 XLT Mav, and the android auto wireless has been dropping a lot for me, typically been fixing it as you have.

Try reconnecting it using the usb-c port on the truck, unlock phone and allow data transfer to the connected device instead of just charging (need a known-good usb-c cable that does data not just power as well).

It should either connect to android auto right away with the cable, or it'll try wireless and if it detects cable it'll swap after wireless fails, and connect.

Once it's successfully connected to android auto, cable or otherwise, next time you start it'll try to reconnect wirelessly again.

Android Auto uses the wireless (WiFi) connection on your phone. Anything that disrupts that (radio interference, connecting to a wireless network, battery saver/airplane mode turning off WiFi) will end the connection. Potentially a faulty receiver module in the truck as well, which would be a warranty fix.

I've been told the wireless adapters are not reliable in many vehicles. My first one (external) failed after a couple of years. It almost seems better for them to be external instead of built in- much easier to swap that way and the new ones are small and cheap. If a built in adapter fails you need to waste time with an appointment and at some point pay for it.

In my Maverick, the Wireless Android Auto has been very reliable but I noticed every time I get onto i476 from Allentown PA going north, right where that entrance ramp is the signal drops out and I lose connection to the car. It's not a big deal, the Android Auto automatically reconnects within 30 seconds but I just found it odd how it happens there.

I also had it happen in another area on i80 West by East Stroudsburg PA but it seems to happen occasionally, maybe 1 time out of 6 times I go through that area, its been within the last year in that construction zone. Again it reconnects fast but I wonder what it has to do with those areas that causes it to go wacky?
