I guess I'm out of the loop, I thought the XLT had one of those fancy newfangled SecuriCode keyless entry keypads installed. So Ford wants extra for a dealer to install it now? Bastids! 🤬

So can this supercool 007 tech be purchased post sale, maybe with some of those handy FordPass points?

The XLT and Lariat used to come with them, for whatever reason Ford did not plan to offer it on the '24. It was brought back by popular demand, but only as a dealer Installed option. Don"t really know about pass points, but probably. The keypad is far from newfangled however. I think Ford introduced them in the '80's. I know my father's ''88 MK VII had it.

It wasn’t brought back by popular demand, it has always been available as a dealer installed option.
Edit
You can use FordPass points. Also, it does require dealer programming, takes 15 minutes or so

So, I am a bit confused! Is the dealer option for the keypad on the MY24 located on the door panel and hard-wired as in earlier models when it was standard? Or is it the battery powered stick-on-the-door "El cheapo" that Ford parts carried for some time? If it is the former, then I would say public pressure was the reason it was made an option and buyers who wanted the keypad were not stuck with buying the "El cheapo".

It's the stick on, the in-door keypad is no longer an option on the Maverick (it was removed from the Edge as well recently).

Likely removed to have a single door type between the trims.

Yes Ford is getting cheaper and cheaper. The 22 XLT was loaded and great price 👍😊. The 23 XLT
more expensive and LESS option 👎 The 24XLT is even WORSE alot more in price💰💲 and alot less options either gone or cost alot more . Not sure the 22XL Was 19,995 .00 with the Hybrid engine 😊👍. Now I think it is 25,995.00 unreal just my opinion but the last three years Ford has shot themselves in the Foot many Times with all the problems , delays , lack of communication and multiple price increases with the Maverick that's why you can still order one 👎😱☠ ⁉. Again just my opinion 👻

So, it is the "El Cheapo" that is now a $195 option. Part cost is $105. Cost cutting results in greater profit; base price was not reduced because of dropping the keypad and so profit is up. Dealer also makes a little more because he now gets to install the option or sell the keypad after-market and get install fee. Everybody is happy except the buyer who likes the hard-wired keypad on the door (no batteries) and now pays the same base model price but gets the inferior stick-on keypad option costing $195!!!o_O(n)

Good replies, kinda what I figured. That's one Ford accessory I'll be scratching off the wish list.

This is incorrect, the base model price actually went up :censored:

The whole ordeal all makes me madder than the hatter! I want my truck! I've read many of the horror stories about acquiring a Maverick, but I can say mine is right up there. Too late for the game in '22. Told them to put me on the 2023 order list -- I know, I know -- I should have kept up on the order windows better on my end. Tried to order, was told I missed that window, but could be put in to the '24 banks when they opened up. THEN received a call that they had a loaded '23 XLT ready to go. Great price (compared to the 2024 model I ordered with less options). Came as a shock, so I asked if I could look over the build think a day, and was told sure. She sent the sticker. That same evening after business hours I decided to pull the trigger, and emailed that I'd call in the morning with deposit. She replied, "Great!". I was feeling pretty damn good, turning 60 soon and my first new car purchase ever! I awoke the next day all fired up. Turned on my tablet to receive an email informing me they were sorry but they had sold the truck! It was a gut punch! I let her know I was a tad bummed, understand business because I used to own one. Understand customer service and honesty, too. Got a call a few days later that they were expecting a Tremor Lariat in a month or so. I was still licking my wounds and had no interest. Did I mention I am a poor old man? I digress. On to the order. Got it done July window and thrilled, but disappointed I'll be paying more for less. PLUS, some options I had deleted 10 days before my October 23 build was scheduled (including the exhausted splash guards and expensive floor mats) were not removed from my order -- even though I'd signed and returned the revised order with my John Hancock on it. Salesperson says its Ford's fault and too late to change, and it could well be but I have the signed form so it wasn't MY fault. Problem is, I had ordered aftermarket mud flaps and floor mats as soon as I was told the Ford ones were cancelled. She said I could cancel the order and start from scratch. Over my dead body at this point!!!

I still need to call Ford and see if I can get those plastic pieces pulled from my build. 🤞

I'm glad this will also be my LAST new vehicle purchase ever!

Grrr!!! 😤

I know, I've never heard of a new model year costing more and having less (although I never use my keypad and never will so it is just extra cost junk to me).
If you are saying your 2024 order scheduled to be built in October still has guards and mats the dealer can delete those from the order if you don't have a window sticker yet.

Understood. However, if the base price had remained the same, it went "up" because the truck has less value without the wired keypad. To regain some of that value, buyer must buy an option inferior to the original.

Apparently not. I just got off the phone with Ford. The lady told me that after the order has been scheduled for build they can not make any changes. I told her I had not been issued a window sticker yet but she held firm that changes can not be made at this point. "Even just plastic add-ons?", I asked. Yup. No changes whatsoever.

Guess I'll be selling some "genuine" Ford splash guards and floor liners at discount soon after I take possession of the truck.

Available and very easy to install. Since it’s a stick on keypad you can mount it anywhere you want. A lot of people have added them and mounted it on the inside of the fuel door to help protect it from the elements.
