So I just changed the cabin filter on both my 24 Maverick Hybrid Lariat and my 24 Bronco Sport Outerbanks. I googled the videos to see if there was anything i needed to pay attention to and its easy as all get out. Now I did the wifes bronco first and her bronco was exactly like the guys in the video, there was a small plastic piston on the right side i had to squeeze to get it to pop off.

Now when I did mine in my Maverick i opened my glove box. No plastic piston. Is this something where Ford put them on the earlier models but decided nah they really dont need this anymore? I noticed the squeeze part is molded in, just no piston. Any one with a 24 have a piston? I bought my Black Betty brand new. My wifes Ezzy was bought brand new.

There was a recent long thread on this. It was discontinued last year. You can buy it for about $20 if you really want it.

Just interesting that they put it on the Bronco sport that year, but they didn’t put it on the Maverick Lariat

OK, glad to know. I’m not missing something. Thanks.

I'm sure Ford deleted it to save a few $, but it seemed to me like it actually made it easier to change the filter if you don't have 50 loose items in the glove box. The molded plastic retaining clip for the strut broke off in one of my vehicles...kinda a pointless part if you asked me.

My 2022 XL (Xtreme Luxury edition) has a piston; later years do not.

There are thousands of Maverick owners driving around with Floppy Doors, so you needn't feel embarrassed. If it bothers you there's a surgical implant that can help.

Some say you dont need them but on my F150 mine was broke by the previous owner and they must have kept 3/4 impact guns and batteries in it because the little tabs you press in to lower it were deformed and never held my glove box up. All good not storing anything but straws and napkins lol

The FPP-89 is an upgrade and filters down to a smaller micron range for not a ton more.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/motorcraft,fpp89,cabin+air+filter,6832

It does restrict airflow by just a bit more but not super noticeable. I noticed I no longer smell diesel exhaust at all with it and just Mee the cabin on recirc.

A thread in here:

I live out in the Eastern Shore of Maryland where there are tons of chicken producer farms and the local farmers use the crap for fertilizer. In the summer certain areas smell pretty bad im hoping the charcoal filters will stop that from entering the cabin
