2024 ford maverick heater hose replacement

Ford said they had to remove my heater core to replace my hose that was damaged by rats. Does this sound legit? Thanks

Maverick's seem to be on the list of food for rodents, be it wires and now hoses.

Yes, it's a thing, vehicles since the early 2000's come with Soy based wire insulation and I suppose hoses also now. Many people have complained about rodents causing expensive damage to their vehicles because rodents love the soy based insulation. Some say to spray peppermint inside the engine compartment. Google it.

Unless in bear country and truck may sit unattended for days.

Pinesol on cotton balls in old pill bottle drilled with holes zip-tied somewhere - that was another post.

If not in bear country - peppermint extract was another posted idea, with above method.

I have same problem with my 1986 F-350 Super Duty. I can replace the wiring myself, some three times.
