2023 Production Rollover a Blessing?

So I have a question in regards to 2023 ordering. Will the early orders with Lux packages, 360, and bed liners get filled rather quickly (relative to orders placed later in the year) or will they automatically delay your order with constraints?

They’ve said they’re doing oldest first, but who knows how long that will last.

It may be a good thing that production is delayed. It seems obvious that Ford needs to refine their assembly processes.

I have never bought a new model either. But I have a good friend that had two hybrid Escapes that were totally reliable. Surely Ford could build new sheet metal?

When I ordered my truck over 8 months ago, I wanted splash guards. The dealer said that splash guards would delay the build. I told him fine, I don't want the truck until they can figure out how to install splash guards. So I put myself at the back of the line - for a reason - proficiency.

I don't need a new car, my old Fords work just fine. I loved the design of the Maverick, particularly the low height of the bed. I would also like better gas mileage. I was excited for 6 months, disappointed for two months, and now I just don't care anymore. If my order shows up in May 2023, that will be fine. Maybe Mavericks will be complete and functional by then. Maybe.....

That nice Mr. Farley seems more concerned with building oversized golf carts, like the E-Mach and Lightning.

I have owned a few first year products 2008 Honda Accord.... V6 and had the problem of burning up a spark plug ever 30K miles. 2013 Honda Accord, been great and have just at 100K, and a 2014 Nissan Rogue that has 178K on it and has been great.

I don't think that's entirely fair. I'm betting 99% of this is supply chain issues and chip shortages, which is really out of Ford's control. Maybe they're willing to pay more for parts or otherwise accommodate the F150 since the profits are higher there?

JMO, the pushed MY22 orders will get the first load of commodities arriving after 10/21 so those builds can ship ahead of the first 23. The amount pushed into 23 will impact he beginning of MY23 production and delay an anticipated December arrival of 23's.

You could say an additional constraint to 23's would be the time and resources used to finalize the assembly of the My 22 orders. @fordvideoguy alluded to the fact that pushed 22 Mavericks and the recent cutoff of most MY 22 Ford models (retail orders only) means the ordering window for 23 Mavericks will be shorter than before.

Massive changes require massive amounts of time. Case point, the Ranger raptor won't be sold in North America til MY24.

Ford is at a crossroad of sorts regarding the 2023 Maverick. Will the changes be subtle like the Bronco Sport, lean towards comfort (Ridgeline, Santa Cruz) or off roading (Bronco Sasquatch, F-150 Tremor)?

If the price stays as low as it is for the MY22, then maybe.

But if it just goes up like 6-7k, I could have just gotten a ranger or Tacoma already at that price.

The big draw to this truck was that I could get a lariat for 30k. If that price ends up going up because they couldn't fulfill the orders they took, I would cancel

I can tell you as a former mechanic that this statement can be true. It isn’t always though. From what I experienced it was usually just certain models or engines ect. Certain things would go wrong and they would get them dialed in and usually fixed under warranty. Sometimes a motor would come out and then disappear replaced by a new model within two years. Those are usually shit. I’ve seen exploding ac pumps, cam tensioners not torqued right, things like that. Then I’ve seen the Audi 3.0 v6 which is without question that largest pile of garbage ever sold. It’s all a crap shoot.

also a different subject but from my perspective one of the reasons you always hear about things like the focus trans is because of the price of the cars. People buying a focus can’t afford to be fucked over. A guy buying a “super cool” Audi isn’t going to tell you about his 2.0 piston slap.

I was wondering about possible trade-ins, or selling the Mav in about 5-6 years. If I get mine by Nov 22, and some have had theirs on the road since Oct/Nov of 21, they will both be considered the same age, even though they could be a full year different. So in Nov of 2027, my truck would be 5 years old, but the Nov 21 truck would actually be 6 years old.

Of course all this depends on when/if I ever get mine. Maybe having a "23 wouldn't be so bad. Although I'd rather have mine tomorrow!

Wrong, they are still using the priority system with the dealers. There are way too many builds from Oct., Nov., and Dec being built before the others. Same build.

One on the road in Nov 21 and one coming on the road in Nov 22 wouldn't be considered the same age. The one in Nov 22 would be a 2023 model even if it was originally ordered in June of 21.

Sorry, I disagree. A truck hitting the road in Nov 22 will still be a 22 on paper. They are building up until Oct 21st, so easily won't be on the road before Nov. Reading all the shipping delays on MTC, I can see 22's being delivered in Jan 23.

23MY will only start with builds after Oct.21, unless by some miracle Ford builds all 22's early. If you've ordered a Maverick you must believe in miracles at least a little bit.

Yes depending on shipping some could be from early October and be 22s but some will also be 23s. Shipping is all over the place some people sit at depot's for weeks others like me get delivered in a couple weeks from being built. I was built 12/17 and delivered 1/6.

I would have no problem waiting for a '23 if I could get it for the same price, which seems highly unlikely. Some customers, as we know, can't even get the price protection on their '22. There wouldn't be price protection if it becomes a '23. We may be at the front of the line, but it is a new order.
