Just placed a reservation for an AWD 2.0 xlt maverick and am very excited. Wanted to get the bronco sport but i really want something thats more capable for towing. Similarly reallllllly wanted to go for the hybrid but would have the same problem.

Anyway, can anyone with knowledge of RV campers give suggestions for more light weight campers that the 2.0 will be able to tow, i know very little about the space. I would require a small shower and i know this really raises the weight, but its the only way to pull my gf into camping more haha. Everything else can be very basic/small/not that luxurious.

Thanks for the suggestions.

check out the R-Pod series from Forest River. Also A-Liner type hardsided pop ups. Jayco makes some too, Baja Series is popular.

That would depend on if you opted for the 4K towing package or if you stayed with the 2K. There have been several threads that showed suggestions for trailers. I could not locate the other links I saw here before, but a Google search for "Lightweight Camper" provides several results that may be an option for you:

https://travelliterv.com/

... and so on. Good luck with your search.

when you say "small shower" you'll need to know the diff between wet bath and dry bath and sell it to the GF. We were never keen on showering sitting on the toilet holding a shower head on a hose. Old age only reinforced that. The Maverick promo photos show a smaller size tow behind that is probably decently equipped including bathroom. You'll probably be looking at 20' and under.

Keep in mind, even with the 4K tow, you have a max frontal area of 40 sq ft.

Take a look at nucamp. I believe their 320 and css clamshell will fit a Maverick and have a wetbath

Also make sure you get weight definitions from the company you are researching. Many companies will not advertise weight with water, supplies etc loaded. Some vendors say Gross Vehicle Weight is the weight of camper off of the lot empty

Water adds weight quickly at 8lbs per gallon

This is something I've been looking into for a few years now. I've never owned a truck, so I started by looking at the lightest travel trailers I could find. My requirements were: must have a toilet, must have enough beds (not improvisational beds) for 4 people. In searching, I came across the Gulf Stream Ameri-Lite series, specifically the super-lite floorplans.

To throw another angle into the mix. You may want to think hard about the bathroom. I have a teardrop and never had one and we haven't really haven't missed it. We have a privacy shelter with a boat toilet when necessary. If we camp at a site we use facilities for shower and restroom. If we are boondocking we just use the river/stream/lake with Dr Bronners soap. The less weight, expense and maintenence is well worth it.

My neighbor and another friend just sold their bathroom equipped RV and went with a Hiker Trail and added a rooftop tent for the kids. Their weight fully loaded for a week comes in at 2400 pounds and only a 1-2 mpg loss. They haven't looked back. Granted teardrop rving is more a step up from camping than rving. Not for everyone.

Don’t have one but I’ve examined the Scamp campers and they are quality. Once in a while you can find a nice used one, but people tend to hold on to them. The Casita is similar, but I’m partial to the Scamp built by hard working folks up here in Minnesota!

Can you please explain what this means? Thanks.
Roughly, if your camper is 6’ wide it can only be a fraction over 6-1/2’ tall. Or any combination of measurements that total 40 square feet (height x width).

There are a number of nice teardrop campers out there, from basic to off road.
