Maverick Ecoboost 2.0 Now with 113 miles on Odometer and have the yellow check engine light on steady. . Ford Dealership says it needs a new Fuel Vapor Purge Valve. Do not drive vehicle. Should have the parts in about 4 days. Bummer !!!

Forgot to close/tight your gas gasket? I did the same when I got my new Outback years ago. The dealer towed it back but I guess they must have cursed me idiot behind my back.

I just passed the 80k mile mark so I have not done spark plugs. I know I’m the manual it says that should be done when you get to 100k miles
You've hit 80,000 miles?!?! What you up to?

On your Maverick?!?

Think plugs should have been done at 60k. Pretty sure 10k miles a month qualifies as severe service.

It's a component in the Evaporative Emissions System. Basically it vents fuel vapor from your fuel supply system ( tank, lines etc...) and directs it into the engine intake to be mixed and burned with the "normal" fuel during the combustion cycle.

When they fail they will usually cause a rough idle, and may set a lean missfire code (the check engine light comes on and stays on) and perhaps some driveability issues..

the usual result is NOT a detonation issue, which is usually what causes a spark plug to "melt" - which is the electrode of the plug actually burning off due to excessive cylinder heat and pressure.
