So I ordered a 2023 Maverick Lariat with the luxury package and 4k tow package. It was built in December and after being delayed in shipping for 3 months it finally arrived.
Issue #1: it had a sticker on it saying do not deliver to dealer, deliver to auction sale as used vehicle. Trying to get answers from Ford.
Issue #2: there is now a recall on the Maverick with the 4k tow package, and now the dealership can't release my vehicle.
It just seems like it's one thing after another.

Thats a real bummer. I’d be interested in knowing what the answer is to the sticker saying sell at auction. How many miles are on it?

Issue #1 sounds a little sus to me. Did you snap a photo of the sticker? If you did post it up here so we can see if it's a legit Ford sticker or just one the dealer put on.

Issue #2 is legit it sucks for sure but it is an official recall and the dealer cant sell it until the recall is performed.

Wouldn’t it be sick if there was an actual support line to actually get help when dealers actually screw customers over or don’t give proper answers?

wild theory… but it might just work!

This is insane. If it was not to be delivered to dealer, why does the dealer have it? I assume the dealer has no clue what this sticker means, or why it is there. The fear I would have if I were you is that without an answer stating that the sticker was a mistake and went on the wrong vehicle, there is some problem with the vehicle. I had something similar a few years with a car I ordered for my daughter. Picked it up and three days later got a call from dealer to get it back asap. Seems somewhere in delivery, it had fallen off transport and had some kind of stress crack in frame. Fortunately they found another one very similar and took good care of me. As they would say centuries ago, "Methinks time to have a talk with dealer and get some answers from Ford."

Sounds damaged and low mileage indicates to seem to have happened during factory testing. They typically arrive with about 20 miles give or take a few . Bummer big time.

Wowzer, I don't think I would take it even if they could sell it and clearly if you believe what is written on that document then they cannot sell it as a new vehicle. So something happened to it. It likely received some body damage and has been repaired given it only has 5 miles on it. DAMN THAT SUCKS

As much as it sucks, RUN away! Don't walk, RUN! Go find another truck if you can, but DO NOT take this one. It has been damaged most likely, so I wouldn't chance it if it were me.

You think the dealer is going to hand this over to an auction house? No way! Sign says they can't sell it as new. They will check it over and sell it as used. Prob with a 5k mark up!

Unless someone definitely says it is a legit sticker from Ford factory, given the nature of dealers, I would question it. This seems to be a perfect thing to send to the expert - @fordvideoguy to see if this looks legit. He should give a definitive answer.

I remember from a couple of decades ago small dings and scratches could be repaired by the port processor, anything over $250 worth of damage the vehicle could not be sold as 'new'.
