I think you are right. Their bean counters and attorneys probably think that if they actually announce anymore about problems with the Maverick it will immediately be reported on the evening news and directly affect sales and their bottom line. Ford has had more recalls and bad news that they had their worst loss in years. They can claim falsely that it was from tarrifs when it most assuredly was from lower sales as people pay attention to bad news about recalls.
That is why I think everyone should flood the NHTSA with complaints and keep their dealers busy charging and checking Maverick batteries. If it becomes enough of a problem Ford WILL deal with it!

Maybe I'm lucky, my Hybrid Lariat delivered on 3/9/22, going on 4 years old, still has the original battery in it. It spends most of it's time in "sleep mode", but always starts when I hit the start button. I have very low mileage (under 11K at this time) so not driving enough is not the problem. Most of the time the interior lights are off when I open the door, but turn on when I hit start.
Yeah, you're lucky it still starts. Assuming that you've had all the recalls and the a/c SSM done, the normal standby current draw keeping the minimal sensors alive is about 50ma, so it would take several hundred hours of sitting time to discharge the 70AH battery down to the point of announcing deep sleep mode. Your battery is fried, and one day in the very near future it will be totally dead. Get a new one.

I had the original 12V battery replaced in November, 2024 on my ā€˜22 hybrid Lariat as I was down to 36%. The original battery was replaced under the bumper to bumper warranty. Fast forward to last week when I began getting the battery saver mode on my Ford App daily, even after I drove it. Took it in to the dealer today, and it’s down to 50%. Everything in the charging system checked out OK. It will be going back to the service dept tomorrow for a new battery under the original bumper to bumper warranty.

My wife’s hybrid Escape had the same fate. The battery was replaced at the same time as my Maverick and under the 36/36 warranty. Her battery was down to 40% today, but she’s out of bumper to bumper warranty, which ended this past February. Ford says the battery that was replaced in her car in November doesn’t have a warranty. Ford Customer Service says the battery that was replaced in her car goes back to the original date the warranty on the car began over three years ago.

Funny, because I can go buy that same battery at WM and will have a warranty on it.
The problem with WM battery is that it is pro-rated like all are. So you slowly spend a lot of money over time.
I would never touch an Escape, I'd go with a RAV4 or a CRV. I've noticed that many of the Maverick buyers on here have or have had Escapes. That being said, they have had their issues. Unfortunately for me, I didn't do enough research on the whole thing before I went with the Maverick Hybrid. I believe the drive train is pretty good. It should be because it's been around for years. Giving them a decade to get through things. The thing about this vehicle is that it looks like a miniature F150. In my opinion the F150 and especially F250 are the best looking trucks on the market and have been for years.

My wife has had 3 Escapes and loved all 3 of them, currently has a '22. Other than the battery issue I have had no problems with either the'22 or'24 Maverick hybrids I have owned. Love the trucks other than that.

The Ford batteries are junk. Get an AGM when you replace the batteries. Call Ford's national service center and report this to them. 800-392-3673

I don’t have to worry about the batteries and the numerous recalls anymore. I traded in my Maverick for a ā€˜26 Honda CRV Sport Hybrid. Picking it up after my wife gets off of work.

Great SUV! Reliable, way better than the Escape. Also has great resale value because the motor and drivetrain are bulletproof.

Yup. We had a ā€˜22 Escape hybrid that had the same problem with the batteries. We sold that about a month ago. Once we complete the deal on the CRV, goodbye Ford!! These were our first two Fords since the ā€˜90’s and they will be the last!

Yes, I filed with the NHTSA last month when I found out that even though I am on my 4th battery, my VIN was not included in the SMM battery recall. I don't get it.

SSM is not a recall. It is a special service message. Designed as a reference for an issue that service departments use as I guide for dealing with them. You need to get all of the battery SSM's and mention them to the dealer when you visit with a 12v battery issue. They may try to hide it and blame the battery or your driving habits and do zero research. I'm on number 3. This one has held up better. At least so far. There is a constant drain on it and a lack of keeping up with charging it.

Hey Mavbrid guys I got the perfect fix !
Put in a disconnect switch under the steering column out of site but easily reachable. Have that cut the ground lead to the 12 volt battery.
No more vampire battery drain.
Plus you get the bonus of an extra layer of anti theft.
Win win right !

Ford, I want a paltry $10,000 for my wisdom and you can get and own the patent !

Jeez ~o~Pete !
Imma friggin Genius !

Let’s see here, $5,000 for the plug in charger and adding the necessary sixty amp service at the house.
I’ll be generous and call it a 45% fuel savings from the plug in Maverick over the Ecoboost. To reach 45% your average would need to be at or near 50 mpg.

Annual Fuel cost in my Ecoboost. Vs annual fuel cost with the plug in. And factoring in my home electric bill rise charging from a sixty amp circuit.

ā€˜Calculator starts to get hot, clickity click click.
I got it !
My fuel savings pay for the in home charging system in about six years.
Then after that I’ll find some savings driving the hybrid plug in, maybe, if the main battery keeps working.

No wait !
Light bulb !!!!
Brain wakes up.
I’ll need to start saving all my fuel savings for about six more years to purchase that new lithium drive battery.

Calculator starts smoking, click click click click, pause them more clicking.

So ! Over a twelve year span I saved exactly nothing.
Could have bought TWO Ecoboosters instead of TWO Plug in hybrids over that twelve years and spent relatively the same on fuel costs.
And enjoyed the vroom vroom aspect without ever having to drive slow pissing everyone off to get my needed 50 mpg numbers.

Thats what my brain does to me, that’s my insanity.
There are seven types of ADHD.
I have three, type three can only be diagnosed by a nuclear psychiatrist.
I never heard of that one before.

By the way, I asked the nuke shrink of thirty years in the profession how he knew I had type three.
He said, ā€œBecause I have itā€

I see absolutely no advantage to plug in hybrids once you add that $5,000 charger and add a sixty amp circuit to your house,
Then the higher electric bill.
A sixty amp circuit pumping for several hours is far more costly than a tankless water heater, also a sixty amp system.
Those tankless systems will only run when your running the hot water, minutes to several for a hot shower.
