They compare in size.
That's about it.

I take that back.
They compare in usefulness for 90% of all cases.
Carry the same amount of groceries.
Carry the same amount of kids to school.
Carry the same amount of lumber.
I could go on an on. But I'll stop there.

No they do not. Not even close. Lets go over some "truck stuff" numbers.

Lets talk wheelbase. The Maverick has a 121.1" wheelbase and the Rivian has a 135.8" wheelbase. This may not seem like a big difference but it is. It's huge.

Wheelbase ties directly into length so here we go. The Maverick is 199.7" long and the Rivian is 217.2" long. Again this might not seem like a lot but in the automotive space this is a huge difference.

Since you mentioned groceries lets talk cargo space. The Maverick has 0 cu. ft. of cargo space. The Rivian has 37 cu. ft. of cargo space.

This ties into the wheelbase numbers. So now you can put your groceries in the cargo space and your kids in the back seat unlike the Maverick.

Speaking of carrying kids lets talk passenger volume. The standard Maverick comes with 96 cu. ft. for passengers. The Rivian comes standard with 107 cu. ft. of passenger volume.

I could go on and on but I'll stop there. Unless anyone wants to talk performance numbers.

These trolling posts are predictably annoying, but the OP’s are getting a lot of traction with them, so don’t expect them to stop.

You can say it all you like, but it’s not correct.

Carry on…

Actually $79,500, so well over $80K out the door. Add a home charger for at least a couple grand if your home power panel has the capacity, triple that if it doesn't.

Tax credits?
Tony Caravano, Rivian’s head of customer engagement, “an electric pick-up truck or SUV must be priced below $80,000 and the buyer must fall below certain income thresholds to qualify."

AKA, if you can afford one you make too much for the tax credit.

Add to that the Rivian battery is sourced from China, a no go.

Ohhhh now we are starting to get into the nitty gritty stuff. Tax credits, battery sourcing, and home charger affordability.

It won't be long now before this gets political and we all know how @Administrator feels about that.

The extra "width & length" looked like plastic trim to me.

If you want to put a big antenna on your truck and call it taller than mine, go ahead. 🤣

Not much different in the "useful" size.
That's what's most striking.

There's a trend on the forum of obviously insecure Maverick buyers trying to stroke their egos by sneering at other vehicles. The main recipient is the Santa Cruz, but their collective scorn obviously knows no boundaries.

The Maverick is a shiny piece of broken bottle glass you picked off the public beach. The Rivian is a frigging diamond. Comparing a Maverick to a Rivian is an exercise in "ignorance is bliss".

No snarkiness on my end friend. I stated facts and figures that's all.

So the tax credit that you mentioned. I think the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Lighting might be ineligible next year because of the new rules that Congress passed when they pushed through the Inflation Reduction Act.

So it just doesn't affect small time players like Rivian.

Facts and figures were all I commented on. Have any problem with them?
It won't get political unless some fool takes us there.

Agreed, comparing the Maverick to $80K plus vehicles seems really insecure. Maverick buyers should be content with what they bought not envious of vehicles that cost more money.

I think this is the issue.

You know what the best part of the Mav is?

The price!

I don't need all the truck/lux/etc stuff because I'm not gonna use it.

The Mac satisfies all my personal truck needs and my personal vehicle wants at an amazing price.

The Rivan/Cruz/Tacoma satisfies all my truck needs but none of my wants at an 2-4x price.

Vehicles are inherent personal purchases. Don't let anyone try to compare the trucks objectively because they aren't objective.
Your personal requirements are what defines what car you should get.

If I bought a Rivan because it was an inherently better truck, it still would be a pants-on-head stupid decision for me.

This weird "competition" stuff is just so stupid.

Other examples:

An iphone is a faster and better phone than my Android, but doesn't satisfy my needs.

Costal weather is inherently better than Midwest weather but living out there doesn't satisfy my needs.

A Ducati is a much better moto than my Honda but it is bad for me.

The Alps are much better skiing than Tahoe but it would be stupid to compare them at the same level.

Let's compare "truck stuff" then.
We should start with standard towing capability because that's a truck thing. The Maverick has a standard 2,000 pound towing capacity and the Rivians is 11,000.

Then we can move on to standard torque because that's a truck thing to. The Maverick comes standard with 155 ft. pounds and the Rivians is 908 ft. pounds.

What is another good truck thing to compare? How about payload capacity? The Maverick has a standard 1500 pound payload and the Rivians is 1760.

Next we can move on to another great truck thing to compare which is the 4 wheel drive system. The Maverick does not come standard with 4wd the Rivian has 4wd standard.

Horse power numbers are another great truck thing to compare. The Maverick comes standard with 191hp and the Rivian has 835hp standard.

I can keep going if you want but most of these numbers make these two vehicles non comparable.
Nice comparison. Now hook that rivian ups to a 10k trailer and head for the Rocky Mountains. Let me know when get to the continental divide west of Denver, Co.

Truck stuff you know.
