Really? Intresting, just this past April the maverick was out selling it in its first year. https://fordauthority.com/2022/05/2022-ford-maverick-handily-outsold-the-ford-ranger-in-april/

I'm sure you have better data then what we can get but 22,479 wasnt very good. Do you think they can do 31k in MY 23*? The Tacoma for 23 doesn't have much changes either so that will help even out the playing field.
You are right, Maverick did out sell it but the Ranger did pretty good as well. It's just not as hot as the Maverick. I think this is the first year they had to stop taking orders on the Ranger before the build out date.

Ranger is at the end of it's useful life on the current platform. I was expecting sales to tank with a lot of people waiting for the redesign to make up their minds.

Eh, I like the Ranger and like the looks of the redesign. That said, I still find it an oddball in the lineup. It's too big and basically an F150 jr but priced too high. I would have bought one waiting on the Mav though because I do like it overall, but I couldn't find one or a base F150 when waiting on my Mav, so I got what I wanted in the end.

apparently history is doomed to repeat itself:

"Also, compared to the 2022 Ranger, the redesigned 2023 Ranger is slightly larger, with a 2-inch increase for both the wheelbase and track width. This size increase should improve the ride quality of the Ranger. "

I see that as a good thing. The current Ranger was designed in Australia based on their market requirements. All major US reviews dissed the tight interior and bouncy rear end. Maverick has more interior room than Ranger by many personal accounts and is nearly same overall dimensions. It fits perfectly in the middle of Ford's truck lineup between compact Maverick and full size F-150. Not seeing any doom here LOL.

Wheelbase & track don't necessarily equate to bigger overall.

I'll be curious to see the *overall* dimensions of the new '23 NA Ranger, vs. the outgoing model. If it is bigger overall, I'll bet it's by less than the suspension differences, which would indicate a better packaging job by Ford.

I know they moved rear shocks outside the frame rails, instead of inside on current platform. I think a little wider in front end with suspension tweaks too IIRC
