Hi Gang,
Here’s one I haven’t seen yet. Very easy to replicate on my Maverick.
If I crank the heat to max, and the fan to max (It’s really cold where I am at the moment), then once things start warming up I turn the heat down about 4 clicks, the fan speeds up. Anyone else notice this one? It’s not really a problem for me…just another one of those WTF moments with the heating/cooling system.

I've not noticed that to happen on my XLT with luxury package, do you maybe have it set on auto when this happens?

If your turning the temerature control knob down the fan speed will change up or down to reach/maintain the set temperature. I don't think the "auto" mode needs to be selected for this feature to work.
If you adjust the fan speed button up/down it sets the max fan speed to the desired level, so if the fan speed is set to max and the set temperature has not been reached the fan will speed up to it's maximum. If you set your fan speed to the middle speed that will be the new max fan speed until the set temp is reached . The fan will speed up or slow down as required but will not speed up beyond the middle speed in that case.
Doesn't really function all that differently from the auto setting except that auto will also adjust the blend doors for a mix of floor/dash/defrost vents according to both the interior and ambient (outside) temperature the sensors see.

First, Auto is not on…
Since I start with the temp on High, when I turn it down it’s because I no longer want as much heat. I would expect the fan to stay the same or even go slower, and that’s why I think it’s kinda weird that the speed goes up.
It’s just another strange but not really bothersome quality that my Mav has. I just wondered if anyone else noticed this or is my Mav “special”.

You're not changing the floor/mix/vent/windshield setting at the same time, or are you?

If no, yes that is weird.

Mine does the same...and I have an idea why.
I own a hybrid due to the fact that the engine does not start right away unless I use max HI heat. I have cold feet therefore
I manually select foot position and MAX HI temp. I do not touch the fan selector.
I leave the heat on until it's toasty inside the cab. I then turn the temperature down to 72°-74° If the air temperature inside the cab is close to 80°, the fan speed will increase in order to cool down the cabin to 74° and then upon reaching the temperature it will reduce the fan speed all without having Auto selected or any manual fan speed selection on my part.
If I happen to have the auto feature on it will actually turn on the AC and increase the fan speed in an attempt to reach my selected temperature of 74° or 72°
I very rarely ever have to touch the fan speed selector.

I exclusively use Auto. Is the increase in fan speed temporary or does it stay? If temporary, it might just be blowing off any latent heat before turning down (I have a space heater at home that does this).

The weird part many are overlooking is..... they had it on MAX and then reportedly it sped up more after that.

So either max really wasn't max or theirs is going into supermax.

Exactly and if the cabin is warmer than the newly selected temperature. It is going to increase the fan speed until the lower temperature is obtained, and then the system will lower the fan speed again.
This all happens if you haven't manually selected a fan speed.
The climate control system is very much automated in the Maverick.

I did manually select a fan speed…7…which is the highest. I guess if it’s actually trying to now cool things down it must go into Supermax mode, as stated above.

I read your previous posts. I didn't see where you said you manually selected the fan speed I must have missed it. Sorry
