Hey everyone, new here and not sure if this has been asked before. Bought a new 2024 XLT on friday but dealership said I had to wait until the recall issue regarding the backup cam freezing got fixed. They had no timeline on how long it would take. Saw the recall occured in September. Anybody else experience this? Any idea how long it'll be until I get my new truck? THANKS

As far as I know, there is no known fix and no expected fix date. Hardware or software issue? Not sure they have determined that yet.

Having the 2025s being delivered and the 2024s have to sit on the lot, you would think Ford is gonna come up with a solution fast. A lot of dealers are getting hosed on cars they can't move. I'm hoping we get a sync upgrade out of this and the crappy sync apim they put in here is the issue.

Hope always springs eternal, but honestly do not hold your breath on a SYNC 3 upgrade. IMHO only this is taking a long time to fix because Ford laid off a bunch of software coders and secondly they are trying to fix cheap dollar store electronics hardware with a software fix.

If this was easy for Ford like replacing a camera for example or a simple software bug fix it would have been done by now. If I were a dealer and stuck with a floor plan I could not sell I would be calling Ford every day.

As a former software engineer, I vigorously disagree with the above phrase "a simple software bug fix". Especially if it is embedded software. And even more if the vendor owns the software. And even more than that if it's a memory leak, as somebody reported earlier.

You can fix a bug in 30 seconds. Or you can fix a bug in 30 days. Depends on the code, the bug, the engineer, the ability to replicate, and the validation and testing required. And oh about a dozen other factors.

This SHOULD be a sync3 upgrade but that'd cost Ford a few bucks so there's no way they'll do it unless the government forces them to.
Hell, if my truck were locked in limbo like some folks I'd pay em $500 to do the upgrade rather than being stuck without a vehicle.

OP's problem is on the dealer being shady as hell though, they shouldn't have sold a truck that wasn't ready to leave the lot. Hopefully they made the situation clear BEFORE the paperwork was signed but having dealt with car dealers they probably barely hinted at it.

You made my point for me Scott. What I was saying, and I am paraphrasing myself here for clarity, is if this was one of those 30 second fixes, as you say, it most likely would have been done by now. Easy peasy, right? It obviously is one of two situations. One, Ford is dragging their feet and going to get to it when they feel like it (highly unlikely) or two this is one of those 30 day or longer fixes you also reference (highly likely). That is all I was trying to point out. However, still feel free to vigorously disagree with me, I have broad shoulders.

Will be difficult to fix and considering it's a recall, they have to get it 100% right. They could be securing module production. Remember there are 200k ? Recalled trucks.

Yeah, something is up for sure. Problem discovered in September and pessimistic estimates state no fix until end of first quarter 2025 as per Tim from LM Ford. Your guess of new modules or something similar may very well hold water.

I have no sympathy for Ford.
They made the decision to cheap out on the infotainment system. Now after almost a 170 million dollar fine. With refreshed 2025 models arriving at dealers lots. Thousands of unsold 24 Maverick's sitting in storage lots on an indefinite sales hold until a fix can be found. Adding to the expense. All of the Mavericks that are being recalled that are currently sold and in owners hands, have to be FIXED. Maybe next time they'll say no to the Bean counter who told them it was more economical to do it the cheap way.

I hope they replace the camera with a higher resolution camera. I love everything about my Maverick except the camera and would love to see an upgrade even if I have to pay a little out of pocket.🤞

As in paid for or financed?
Were you told you wouldn't be able to take the Maverick home before you signed any paperwork?
Did they let you drive it?
There's been a stop sale, no demonstration/test drive order on affected 2024 Mavericks since 11/22/24.
With the little information you've provided, it seems you're dealership is shady at best and predatory at worst.
