Look, i think tires are as important as the next guy, but if you like your gas sipping AWD ecoboost, stick with the all seasons.

I used up my stocks for 20k miles of mostly highway. I still have them, they're just stored for now. was getting between 28-32mpg average depending on my personal driving habits.

recently upgraded to 245/65r17 falken wildpeak ATs, and shew, im MAYBE getting 27mpg on the highway. I can baby it to 30 at 55-60 but anything over that and it falls off.

I get it, I know why this is happening, contact patch, surface area, friction, all that.

personally, it's not something I really considered when getting new tires.

but it looks good coupled with some black painted steelies

just grabbed a set off the facebook marketplace for 50 bucks and hit em with some 100 grit and rustoleum paint/primer.
got them painted on my lunch break.

we haven't gotten enough snow here to notice a difference yet, so TBD on that for me

How have you accommodated the difference in speedo/odometer with the larger diameter tires?

Also, which Wildpeak AT's? AT3W, AT4W, or Trail?

Are you quoting displayed mpg rather than calculated? Remember that with larger tires, you are now traveling farther per tire revolution than before. The display doesn’t know that. This would account for at least 1 to 2 mph of your displayed loss.
Like your steelies. Proper look for a truck. 19” wheels are too susceptible to pothole tire damage.
I’d want 17” steelies even on a Lariat.

Most likely that was posted not considering the difference on the odometer. That being said you also have two other things that come into play.

One the cold temperatures which engages the choke until it warms. Secondly and more likely is going from summer gas/fuel to winter. The difference in fuel has always influenced fuel economy, thus the reason it's a little less expensive.

Living in Northern Michigan and I don't have your specific tires or size necessarily. I have gone from 31/32 mpg to 27 on 2 lane highway. I have the falkon wildpeaks t3 p235 from the factory. My thinking is the colder temps and the winter gas. It was 11 below last night. When I have fueled up in town and driving back I can still get 30 to 32. It goes down after starting and running a cold engine. I don't but if you are remote starting and letting it heat up can also cause less fuel economy, just saying.

Just hope my experience may help to determine your loss of mpg.

Wildlpeaks are a very heavy tire, plenty of lighter at options out there that would have helped maintain your fuel economy. For every one pound of rotational mass you add it's like adding roughly eight pounds of static weight to your vehicle. I ran 245/70R17 road venture at2 tires on mine and was still getting mid thirties on the highway

I changed the tires on my 2022 XLT FX4 to the same size, 245/65/17, and the drop in mileage was similar to worse. I went from 25 around town to around 20 at best. However, the performance, especially in deep sand, is up 110%. I'm happy with the trade-off. This has been measured by fuel consumption, not just by an odometer.

I don’t know if you had your maverick last winter, but the fuel economy does drop off, but mine came with 235 falkens originally and I averaged over 30 in the summer (I drive a lot of highway to work @ 70+ mph)
