Android Auto no longer auto syncs to my truck. Anyone else having this issue within the past week or so?

Not sure what happened, but my Motorola phone no longer automatically launches Android Auto when I get into the truck. I looked through settings in the phone and the app and the infotainment settings and I don't see anything amiss, but I have to disconnect and reconnect the phone to get Android Auto to launch in the truck. I'm using the Motorola MA-1 wireless adapter and tried replacing it but no joy. Is it just me...

No issues here.
The only setting I know of for that is on your phone under apps / Android Auto / additional settings in app. Start Android Auto automatically.

Same thing happened to me, I had service come out and do the sync recall and it didn't fix it, I'm going to take it in next time, I'm hoping it just needs updated to current sync system.

couple things going on the original post, but I have a similar setup. I use one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BZTTGMH1

should be pretty much the same as using a Motorola MA1. but the OP has an XLT and I have a lariat lux, so our infotainment is different.

anyway, I use wired and wireless depending on if I need my phone charged, or if it's a long trip I'll definitely be wired because of the battery drain from navigating and playing music.

I find it to be unreliable and buggy. I reboot my sync3 system at least once a week when something goes wrong. a few times a month, it doesn't resolve the issue until I also reboot my phone, and once I had to forget the bluetooth connection to my AA wireless box and set it back up.

I would try unplugging the MA1 completely, reboot the infotainment by holding down power and fast forward until it goes black and you see the Ford logo, and then try WIRED only to see if android auto when wired is working as expected.

after you verify that, then you can try the MA1 again. if it doesn't work, try forgetting the connection and setting it back up. if that still doesn't work your MA1 is probably bad, a few people have complained theirs stopped working.

I'll give it a try, thanks!

If a reboot and removing/adding the truck connection in the phone and phone connection (in the truck) don't help, make sure your AndroidAuto app is updated to the latest version in your phone.

If none of the above helps, force stop the AndroidAuto app, then clear app data & app cache. If still no joy, uninstall/reinstall the app in the Google Playstore.

Android Auto has had issues like this in the past - sometimes a particular upgrade introduces issues for particular phones. In those cases, the next update frequently fixes it (though not always).

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling Android Auto on your phone. If that doesn't work, a more aggressive step would be to look somewhere like APK Mirror to find new/old versions to side load, to see if that helps.

With the latest update for AA Wireless I had some issues with it connecting on startup. I downgraded the app, turned off auto update and it was fine. I let it auto update yesterday and it's fine now. Not sure what the issue was.

Have the same issue occasionally. I stop, turn off engine and restart. It then connects.

On my 22 Lariat Android Auto connects automatically do not have to use the cable. Is this just Lariats that do this?

are you the original owner? stock they don't do that unless somehow you're confusing Android Auto with just Bluetooth music.

I have a 24 Lariat hybrid that I picked up in Feb. 24. I have my Iphone paired and when I get in it will automatically start playing my itunes music from my phone with no cables. When I plug the cable to the phone I get the same music playlist but with much better graphics on the screen. I do not get GPS or phonebook wireless but can call hands free. Is this just bluetooth or is their something else happening?
If I install a wireless adapter will I get GPS and phonebook?

For Contacts, make sure you have given that particular connection Permission to access your Contacts.

That's how it works in Android's Permissions settings. Probably similar in apple products.

Thanks. Can I get GPS wireless?
yes, via your smartphone's android auto or apple carplay. your phone's gps provides the location data and map, and your maverick natively will need to have a wired connection to run AA or carplay.

but, you can buy various wireless AA and/or carplay adapters. search on Amazon or here for suggestions.
