Hi, I was wondering if there are any mods for the driver/passenger door panel storage compartments.
I am not impressed with the design or usability.
If I put anything in the slots it just rolls around,
Not very secure design.

Tried searching the forums for ideas but ....

Hey, surprised no one has replied to this. I've been thinking the same thing. Most notably, what to do with the virtually unusable storage at the back of the door. Seems like if the armrest part (which isn't an effective armrest anyway) could easily be a swing-up door to allow better access. That part could even be enclosed from the side to make it more functional.

Other than that, I've seen a couple of minor modifications on here. Mesh net bolted on to keep things upright and stable in the main part of the compartment being the most useful looking thing so far.

Those doors are just begging for modification, but I don't want to just rip into them at random. Either want to see what someone else has done or plan it very carefully.

I suppose to understand what you desire in storage, what you tend/wish to store in the doors is important to understand. For the items that I tend to put in the doors, the Maverick has the best door storage of any vehicle I've owned. Admittedly though, I've only owned a few vehicles that have door storage at all.

Regarding the armrest... I never considered that it was lacking, as being primarily a manual transmission user/driver, I habitually steer with my left hand and only require a spot to put my left elbow. My left hand very rarely leaves the steering wheel. I suppose a primarily right-hand steer driver wants something more complete than what the Maverick provides, and considering that, those drivers would be disappointed in most of he vehicles I've owned.

I’ve also wished for guidance from ford on their intentions with the door storage. There is lots of potential but nothing really clicks or fits well despite all of the molded in “compartments”. We have like 20-25 different water bottles between my kids, wife and I, and none of them fit anywhere in the door. I will say though that the tall skinny bottles of Smart water fit vertically into the door and snap in place with great satisfaction, I discovered that accidentally on a recent road trip!

Bottles with 2.75-2.8" diameter are what you're looking for in the front doors. They are common these days, mostly in stainless steel, insulated and non-insulated. I also use and recommend 24oz Polar insulated sport bottles: https://polarbottle.com/

Standard Nalgene bottles with 3.5" diameter fit the rear doors.

Mabett has two offerings, one of which is did buy. Inserts for all four door storage compartments.

The one I didn’t buy is for the arm rest gap. I’ll see if I can find a link.

The ones I bought. Fit great.

Found the other Mabett door organizer:

I got the 2nd ones there (for the upper door part), fit great, they don't bang around since they got a little piece of foam so they squeeze in tight.

I have the cutim ones on Amazon. Only bought ones for front doors. I use them for trash, they work great for that and have not had any issues with them at all. Just have to make sure you don't toss the rubber bottom when you empty them.

Yep, that's what I use it for as well. So many great ideas here.
