Ford Maverick No Insulation at Fender to engine!? 20240630_103224

My theory is. When the parts bin runs out of a non critical part, whether it be a glove compartment door damper or an insulating pad for the fender. They don't stop the line. The truck gets moved along and assembled without it.

There was a polyurethane shortage worldwide during the plamdemic - just to set the history straight .... anyway -

I've ordered mine and put in the drivers side (passenger I hope to go in the fender liner route) - with the edition of the engine cover - quiets down to my ears. like others have noticed there is a gap at the top - found Fender Insulator. Sound Insulator (LARIAT). | FordUS - part # 7840380 or
Insulator Sound - Ford (M1PZ-7840380-A)
1683946315484.png

- that goes in the top - at least it makes the most sense and squeezes in there. it is just some sort of poly fiber filter like composition -

Just thought I'd throw that out there

Cheers
My hands are all sliced up trying to figure out how to best put these pieces in. Can anyone who had these installed at the factory post a picture from inside the door and the engine compartment please?

Got these two sound insulators for $15 each and probably can get a truck load from any arts and crafts store for that price. Nothing special to them, no indentations, just a 6.25” x 3.25” x 2.5” poly fiber thing.

Posting pictures on how I installed, driver and passenger sides. Like MetalThunder said, it made the most sense to put them there and cover the gap. But it looks kind of crappy and out of place.

Installed the fender insulators this weekend along with the engine cover on my ‘24 XLT EB, and drove about 100 miles over the course of Saturday a Sunday. My take is that together these parts made a nice sound reduction In the cabin and outside.

I don't think I've ever owned a car or truck with any insulation there...and I've owned hundreds of them over the last 60+ years.

The Ford version is out of production, so I bought the Lincoln branded version as others have done. Some have removed the Lincoln emblem and replaced it with different logos. I don't really care what logo is on it. I'm not showing people my engine - I wanted the sound dampening for the clacking direct injection. It does help in this area.

I just bought it from Ford parts site, as it was about the same price including shipping as the other third party sites. I'm sure you can save a few more bucks somewhere. Note that there are 4 attachment points for the cover, and only two of the ball studs are supplied on the Maverick. You need to buy a third ball stud, and the fourth attachment point is a bolt.

Yea . I cut up pool noodles to length and shoved them in between fender and door. Don't really know if it reduces noise but didn't cost anything . I might get engine cover at future date but it is not a priority . I don't notice much noise especially when radio on listening to jazz . As click and clack use to say " if noise bothers you turn up radio volume ".

This is another good place for ford to “cheap out” on to keep the price of the truck low. Better than cheaping out on something more important
Or, as I was going to say, makes you wonder what they cheap out on that you can't see

Just a note to say that I read the entire message thread before installing the right and left fender insulators, and the foam blocks. The blocks do appear to block off the top of the void above the fender insulators, and they fit snugly at the top too as can be seen with this view into the engine bay ...
I just wish they were black :.)

So this is for sure where those foam blocks go (sorry I haven't read the entire thread). Where did you get them and how much? Most importantly do they help with noise reduction at all?
