When I am using Android Auto to call someone, about 25% of the time the display indicates it is dialing the number but there is no sound (ringing tone). After the call connects, neither me nor the person who answered the call hears anything. I am having this issue when the phone is connected via the USB cable and also when using an AAwireless adapter. I am using a Pixel 8 smartphone and have a 23 XLT hybrid Lux package. I have updated the software on the Maverick radio head unit and phone, and I've reset connetions between the phone and radio head unit multiple times, and I've made sure sound levels are turned up. At this point, I don't know whether it is an issue with the head unit, android auto, and/or something specific with my model of smartphone. Has anyone else had a similar issue? Any solutions? Thanks in advance for any input.

I have an AAwireless and an Android, though not a pixel. Wireless or wired a few times in the dialer in Android Auto on the radio my phone has defaulted to output to the phone speaker and mic, and the dialer app on there has a button to switch between that, speakerphone on the phone, and the stereo and mic of the truck. I have not discovered how to prevent this, but it happens about 1 in every 20 calls for me. I imagine this is device dependent, though my phone came with the defult Google dialer and might be the same problem.

Very rarely calls don't route at all to Android Auto, and you cant even answer them from the radio. That is solved by disconnecting my phone from Android Auto, going into Android's settings > Apps, find Android Auto and select force close, or simply reboot your phone. This also solves some occasional problems with google maps not working properly. I guess Android Auto still has a few kinks here and there.

An older phone of mine would also ocassionally connect to the trucks stereo through bluetooth for audio only, no calls, and it caused calls to be forced to the phone itself as well. I think when connected to Android Auto in the truck if you go to Android's settings > Device connection, and select Ford Maverick, it should give you something like the screenshot I added below, make sure every toggle is on. Your phone should hopefully remember those settings.

I have trouble with this in my 17 Cmax. my solution to it is to move over to private and then click out of private and i can usually hear them and they can heat me at that point.

The problem is with your phone’s operating system. If you upgrade to iOS 15 or newer, this problem will go away.

It's more than likely your phone settings in the Maverick. Make sure privacy is disabled under your phone's settings.

For some reason when I got my new pixel 9 pro XL the mute audio in privacy calls were enabled, where I couldn't hear the other person and they couldn't hear me. When I disabled it in the Mavericks phone settings in the radio everything worked fine like it did with my S22 ultra.

Sorry but I am not familar with the "private" setting you mention. Is this on an Android phone?

I checked my phone settings in the Maverick and did find that the "mute audio in privacy" setting was enabled. Since my issue was intermittent, I'll give it a few days and see if this fixes my issue. Thank you for your suggestion.

Yeah I had the issue with my Pixel 9 pro XL but not my s22 ultra. When I disabled it for the Pixel 9 pro XL it fix the audio problem immediately. Some reason it was only enabled when the pixel 9 pro xl was connected via Bluetooth .

So this fix appears to have worked! It's been over a week and I've not had a single issue. Thank you again for the suggestion.

Unfortunately I spoke to soon! The issue is back again even though I have "mute audio in privacy" disabled. What a pain. I'm out of ideas.
