Hybrid Synthetic Engine Noise. Can volume be reduced?

The Maverick has this.

Not exactly.
Maverick has a sound speaker about the size of a 1 lb. Coffee can behind the driver's side FRONT bumper. Where a fog light should go. And nothing in the rear. Which is one reason it is a little loud, so the "clink clink clink" sound, makes it to the rear.

Anyway, if it's an 8 ohm speaker, sticking a 1 ohm power resistor with a fifth the wattage rating of the speaker in series would reduce but not eliminate the volume. Or even two.

while I'm thinking about it, the power across the speaker would be reduced by 21% for one hot, and by 36% for two ohms .

The Hyundai Tuscon hybrid has a horrendous reverse noise. Sounds like whales mating. (Rather what I would expect that to sound like, lol)

What blows my mind is these manufacturers have an opportunity to come up with ANY sound and this is what they choose. I don't actually have an issue w/ the backup sound of the Maverick but that fake engine noise sounds like a 7th grader learning how to play a horn.

It's not like there isn't a whackload of data of engine sounds that guys actually like. Why not model after one of those?

Because there are rules, testing, and years of data that this is appropriate.

You need to know what you are hearing, not just simply hear something random.

I don't mean any random sound. I thought I didn't need to specify esp when I go into the specific sound and situation I'm referring to on the Maverick but MTC surprising me yet again

Mine sounds like a growling noise when turning at slow speeds. Good luck if you ever have an engine issue or driveline issue trying to ascertain the problem with all the weird sounds the front bumper speaker is omitting.
