Anyone have a link to a simple mod to fix these ugly keyholes. Some kind of sticker with heat shrink ability like my emblem covers would be great.

This truck is garaged both during the day (at work) and at night. No reason they should look like trash so quickly. I’ve never even taken the key out of the FOB.

What else do you store in your garage?!
I store the usual garage stuff like tools, kids' things, bikes, and so on. Just curious, what made you ask?

No showers or waterfalls.

Ford has a problem with some of the plated stuff. My wife’s 19 Escape Titanium had all the chrome plating peeling off of both key fobs before it was a year old. Showed dealer, was told not warranty.
Not sure what to do with those lock plates.

Anything acidic? Got some bare iron that rusts quickly? Open bags of fertilizer or anything with sulphur?

If you live near the ocean the salty air may be corroding them. Maybe clean them up and paint them?

Oh it’s very, my touch up paint is krylon.

160k miles and still runs great. It’s only used for hauling muddy kids and family vacations anymore.

A little confused here. OP complained this shouldn't happen so quickly and then you mention 160K miles? Given all the muck pictured around the lock on the paint, it doesn't look like the vehicle is kept very clean.
I think you might try cleaning the surfaces with 0000 steel wool and coating the surfaces with a light oil regularly.

Oh, my bad! I must have mixed up the 12-year-old minivan that's been living its best life under a tree and barely sees the light of day with the 2.5-year-old truck that's pampered in the garage and has only 20,000 miles on it. Silly me! I will go and edit my post.
