So, have at it. Tell me I should go for 10k like a Hybrid or tell me I should change at 1k. I don't care much. Just sharing my results for my use and my preferences on maintenance.

To anyone seeing this information for the first time, if you are interested, contact Blackstone to get some sample containers sent out.
I'll venmo/paypal you a $1 for each 1k miles over 5k on your next change. We need more data.

Was that your first oil change? Looks like the factory shorty filter. did you find metallic particles on the first change?
Yeah it was my first change. Put in a Fram triple filter thing. Didn't bother to see if there were any particles. I knew there would be because of the engine being new. The thing I did notice is how much oil this thing holds!

I've heard good things about their Synthetic Endurance filters. I want to try one but I still have like 3 WIX filters left.

Here is a link to the Fram Synthetic Endurance filter (for the EB's).

There are tests that prove time alone does not degrade oil.
Well, how much time? I think shelf life is somewhere around 10 years for unopened full synthetics now days? And even then lots of variables come into play, like storage conditions that will cause additive breakdowns, moisture or heat and such.

But inside an engine or sitting used in the pan, surely the mixture of fuel would cause breakdown eventually?

But I agree. There are more variables than just time alone.

I've heard the same thing. What I don't know is how the gas/water contamination effects the additives over time.

I change my oil by mileage only.
Every 10k a full oil change w/filter
Every 5k I replace the oil filter only and top off.
How do you change just the filter w/o the oil just draining out completely? I've never heard of this type of witchcraft!!!

No witchcraft!!!
The oil filter is above the oil pan.
The oil pan, is where most of the oil drains to when you shutoff the engine.
Unless you do your oil change with the engine running. There is No oil circulating through the oil filter. It is still going to be messy. Once the filter is loosened it's less messy if you use a blue or red solo cup to hold the filter as you unscrew it.
Now, if I could change the filter, without unscrewing the damn splash shield. That would be witchcraft.
Right now, it's just wishcraft.

Some Detroit manufacturers back in the 60’s or there abouts actually recommended this for every other change. Oil & Filter, Filter and top off.

Back in 1990. A late NASCAR mechanic, who was a friend of my uncle's personally recommended the system to me, when I inquired about synthetic oil for my new SHO.
