I was tired about reading about the towing limits on a hybrid Maverick so I thought I would hitch up the old boat and take her on a cruise .
My truck was ordered with the factory towing package , I am not sure it would make a difference . .
My boat is a 19 foot 3 Lowe Aluminum . She has a 90 horsepower Johnson motor and a matching Lowe trailer .
This trailer is longer than most and has a pretty light tongue hitch weight .
It also has new radial tires .
Its well balanced , but is hard to back up because its so long . Tends to jack knife even using the camera .
The total weight on the rig is just under 2000 pounds when all loaded up with fuel , gear and accessories .
Had her weighed one time when I had my Ranger when I was planning a long trip to Canada .

Now the real world tests .
I had her going mostly around 60-70 miles per hour on relatively flat lands .
Pulling out into traffic or starting out from a stop made the engine growl a little , but nothing unusual .
Even though its a CVT , it did sound like the truck was shifting . Must have strained her a bit between 30 and 60 mph .
She kept up with traffic just fine and acceleration did not seem to put strain on the truck .
She actually towed better than my 2001 Ranger with a 4.0 .
The cornering was much more predictable and stable .

Launching was a breeze and pulling the boat back out was no different than any other setup that I have had .
Just remember to get the fenders just under water so you can easily winch up the boat .
I have towed several other boats this year for friends and the last was a 17 foot Tracker behind a 2015 F-150 4 door .
Pretty much the same experience except the F-150 doesn't acknowledge the boat is even behind her .
On his truck its almost impossible to see the boat at the ramp so the camera is necessary .
The Maverick is lower and you can use either the camera or turn around .

All in all a really good feeling that the Maverick can handle my boat just fine .
My personal view is that with a decent balanced rig that you can tow more than the "allowed " weight .
My salesperson who has been with Ford 25 years thought that Ford puts towing limits at a conservative level to protect themselves from lawsuits and after towing mine , my feeling is that he is right .
I am not sure what is changing with the 2025 maverick hybrid to allow 4000 pound towing capacity , but I'd bet its not much

I'm not sure that I took any side view pictures . The package is too long to get it all in . What did you want to see? I have not filled up again since the trip . I'm not sure the mileage , but expect low 30's .

Honestly, I'm surprised that you think that a long trailer is difficult to back-up with. Have you ever tried a short utility or snowmobile trailer?
FYI, a light tongue weight can cause swaying at speed. Maybe move the trailer axle back a bit to increase the tongue weight, should be about 10%.

The jackknifing is completely because of you lol. I haul a jetski often and, if you've ever used tiny trailers, they are nightmare. I never jack knife it. You just need to remember that the trailer turns opposite of your input when backing up. You turn the wheel left, trailer will turn right, etc..

Yes , I know the difficulties of a short trailer . I've been towing stuff many decades .
Its just that my particular trailer has a real long snout . Once it gets just a few degrees off , its hard to correct .
I was driving and backing down my friends 20 foot shamrock last month with a double axle trailer , behind a loaded Tahoe . That setup was super simple to operate, mine is not .
I've owned her 20 years and its always been a ramp challenge .

Did you use Tow/Haul Mode? If so that's why it "shifted", it does that in Tow/Haul and Sport Modes.

The 2025 Hybrid Mavericks with AWD can now tow 4,000pnds just like the EcoBoost AWD models in 22-24 with the 4K tow package. The reason for the lower towing capacity on the 22-24 was the front wheel drive, same as a FWD EcoBoost model. (If anyone ever ordered one of those.)

I plan on getting a small camping trailer after I get my 2025, so hearing about boat towing is helpful. Would have liked to have gotten the pro backup system for kicks, but it won't be coming until job 2. Guess I will just rely on my 50 years experience in backing. It's all about patience and using your side mirrors. You usually can't see anything in the rearview except the front of your load, so why go there. Cameras are nice, I guess, but I haven't been able to break the mirror habit and use it for much more than seeing how close I am to a car when parallel parking. Yes, that is still a thing. Try that with an 18 foot boat!

Sounds great and I share your feelings.

I've towed 3000# with ease.
(I have a trailer brake controller.)
