I purchased an XLT with the black FX4 rims from a dealer. It’s currently in transit so playing the waiting game.

I subjectively love the 17” alternative rims with the better a/t tires that normally could be added on to a custom order for $795 or whatever it is:

anyway, is there a way to get these aftermarket and not through a special ordered maverick?

I don't know the exact price, but usually factory upgrade rims like this from Ford are ridiculously expensive. Probably $700-$900 each if you buy them through parts. I would just wait to see what the aftermarket comes out with or pay attention and try to get a set of takeoffs if someone decides they don't like their upgraded rims.

Exactly my worry. $800 for 4 rims and decent tires is a fair deal. Small price to pay though to get a maverick now versus waiting forever and getting rims

When building and adding an FX4 package its kind of lame you get no credit for the black rims/tires you are giving up when adding the $795 A/T tire wheel and tire package-

Your best and cheapest bet is getting someone here to trade with you.

Absolutely the best bet is to find some take offs to buy. In a perfect world, I'd actually get some FX4 takeoffs for mine but since finding those could be tough, I'm looking at aftermarket choices for likely 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of what Ford will want for the wheels separately.

In my mind, you kinda do. Ford is taking into account that they will not have to supply you with the standard wheels and tires when they price the "upgraded" wheels and tires at $795. The 235/65/17 Wildpeaks are just under $800 themselves if you buy them from a tire retailer.

Subtract $300 for the Scorpions I have giving back, the rims can be a wash- Call it $295 to upgrade instead and I am good-

Ford gives us a shorter spare tire.

Someone with a Maverick needs to crawl under there and see if a full size wheel and tire will fit between the frame rails.

Here are some photos of the small spare on an XLT at my local dealership. Looks like there's room for the full sized.

Spare size is T155/65 D17

A little off topic but I think it's a freaking joke that Ford lists the spare tire as full size yet I've seen posts that say it's not, that it's thinner. This is how companies lose long term customers (like me). Give me the facts, give me some options and I'll make a proper decision based on facts not misrepresentations.

There's already a thread on this very rant arguing the definition of "full size spare".

I want the 64V wheels to. I ordered a hybrid XLT. I hate that Ford didn’t offer any wheel options for the XLT hybrid. I really don’t like the XLT base wheels. The wheels look bronze or like ones with brake dust in photos. I hope I like them better in person when mine gets here.
