Did my first big haul today in the Maverick and used my new rack system as well. 1200lb of gravel and 8 - 2x4's. Rode pretty low but honestly Tow/Haul mode made it feel like no big deal. Ride is just so smooth.

Everything coming together nicely, just need my Tonneau cover to get here so I can seal up the bed when not in use.

Based on payload you likely overloaded it but still glad to hear it handled it without an issue!

Not all of them are 1500.
Lots of posts on here in the 1300-1400 pound range depending accessories.
From the pictures this truck is likely in this range.
And payload isn’t just what you consider cargo, it includes everything not on the truck as delivered.
So depending his weight, how many passengers he had (and their weight), what else was in the cab, how much fuel in the tank and the weight of all those racks it is possible it is overweighted, but also could be well within (although I can’t add it up under a reasonable limit).
A scale ticket would provide the final say.

yeah definitely overloaded by a bit, I’d say total weight was 1600lb.

I don’t plan on doing it often but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Was a rather easy ride home thru the city, never got over 35 mph so figured I was ok.

I don’t think he overloaded it. The payload capacity is 1500 lbs.
Correct. 1200 lbs of gravel. 100 lbs in the rack system. 88 lbs of wood. Plus driver and anything else that was in the cab and he exceeded the payload capacity or he is a horse jockey.

No doubt. I've done it before on vehicles numerous times. They can definitely do more than they are rated a time or two for short distances if you are mindful.

I would love to know what the brand of roof cross bar is. That’s the piece I’m needing. Thanks.

I'd be afraid to bend the subframe - if that happened - what would you do?

If Ford says 1400 lbs and is overloaded they may not want to cover the truck.... I think Ford should do this type of testing and let us know what happens.

They do, as does every OEM. They all do durability testing at x-percent over capacity. But, they do not share the results. ;)

I’m no mechanic or engineer but I just doubt that would happen in this situation. Did not look or feel overloaded driving.

I did make sure the weight was evenly dispersed and drove real slow.

I’d bet payload calculations are based on people driving at highway speeds with uneven loads, as people tend to abuse trucks, so I bet there is decent leeway above this number, 10-20% even.

I once put 2000 lbs of copy paper in the back of a 1980 toyota pickup. I had no idea about load limits at the time for either the suspension or the tires. It squatted hard and the tires ballooned out, but somehow I managed to drive on a highway for a few miles and unload without damaging anything,

There is some wiggle room.
