I have a 2023 XLT Hybrid with about 12,000 miles on it. Pulled out of my subdivision today and as I made a right hand turned the truck just stopped. I turned the key off, then back on, and while all the display panels were on, and the battery level was at the top of the green as always, when I hit the gas pedal, still nothing. Radio was working, AC was working, everything working, except no propulsion.

I repeated tuning the ignition off 2 or 3 times and then all of a sudden things were back to normal. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, do you know what caused the problem to begin with?

Without having a code reader, it would be hard to say. But it sounds like the hybrid system threw a fault code. I don’t have a Mav hybrid, but I had a Prius that shut down while driving and it gave me the “hybrid system malfunction” warning on the dash. I would either hook it up to a code reader or take it to the dealership.

Hi John! I can look into your Maverick's loss of power concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Maverick's VIN?

Hi John, hey it looks like you responded by replying on our site. If you haven't done so, you will need to click on the "FORD" emblem (large dark blue) from the Ford rep and then click "start conversation" to send them your information. Hope things work out well !

I had a bad experience a couple weeks ago where the truck stopped after I exited the freeway. No lights. Truck would not start.

Had an almost similar situation with my 22 maverick XLT. Just pulled off the freeway at night. loss of power out of nowhere. Would not start. Hazard lights would not even work. Just a powered down truck. lucky a nice guy stopped behind me and used his hazards to inform drivers of the broken down truck.Had it towed and replaced the battery the next day. Took it to the dealer the following week and they found nothing wrong. Very scary situation. Just wish there were warning signs at the very least working hazzard lights.

Just FYI incase the description might confuse things, which never helps a weird issue.

Top of the green area on left hand gauge - is NOT the battery level.
That whole area is about amount of regeneration going back to the battery.
Top means none, but arrow there means it was powered on.

Since you were pretty descriptive on sequence of attempts to move - wondering if the gear shift auto-moved back to Park as it probably should have, on several of those power-cycle attempts.
But that was finally noticed and Drive was selected on that last attempt?

And to that point, when you say just stopped as you made turn - could you have hit the gear selector to Park - barely moving it could have honored that selection?
Are you pretty used to the dial selector you rarely need to look at it anymore?

As to what caused issue - is that right hand turn going over some bumps?
Got squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, rats, mice - that have access to bottom of truck, who are known to chew wires?

The gear selector was in normal drive mode. Did not touch the selector at all. As mentioned, I merely made a normal right hand turn out of my subdivision. About 10 feet after I made the turn, with both hands still on the steering wheel, the truck just stopped. No propulsion. Everything else was working fine - A/C, radio, display panel, everything. Turned the key off, then back on, put it in drive mode, no propulsion. Did that several times. Eventually, it did completely reset and I moved on. Has not happened since. An no, I did not go over any bumps. Completely flat street.
