9 mavericks? Lol, I doubt you’ll have the f150 very long at that rate

in my 25+ years of driving, and well over 500k miles on personally owned vehicles alone, I have owned 6 vehicles. I still own 3 of those.

I don’t understand people who change vehicles so much, but whatever makes you happy, we are all different.
Interesting post. I get it if life changes need a different vehicle, i.e., marriage, kids, career, recreational needs. I try to think of my needs before purchasing and in my 55+ years of driving, I've had 9 vehicles (of course, add a couple more of the wife's). I think some folks just enjoy having new and different much sooner and that's ok. After all, this is America and most of us have the resources to at least consider many other choices.

that's a truck..maverick is not a truck..just because it has a bed doesnt make it a truck.
According to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Maverick is a Truck. My license plate says Truck; the annual vehicle registration is at the higher truck rate.

i know right..they call Cybertruck a truck as well and as soon as it tried to tow something the frame snapped in two..Mav is a good 1st car for a teen , easy to park, low power, and most important cheap enough to consider it disposable. My kid will love it..Myself would never own one because I'm used to real trucks
But ya PA is as insane as CA

The Maverick does everything my 1997 GMC Sonoma (4.3 V6) did and gets triple the mpg.

I’m very interested in this F-150 with a 5.0 that averages 30MPG. Never heard of this. That’s better than my ‘24 FX4.

What's your definition of “truck“?
oxford dictionary defines a truck as

1.
a large, heavy motor vehicle used for transporting goods, materials, or troops.

Mav cant do any of the above. As I said good 1st car for a teen to carry their bike or skateboard but not to haul or tow..
Funny story: 9 months ago my 2021 Bronco 2d with 2.3L eco-boost finally came as a MY24 . Not only I was price protected to 2021 price but it also had all the goodies from the 2024 off-road package ( ex 35 inch tires, skid plate etc)..When I got it I said I'll never sell it. 1 month later, wife told me the car has no soul and the undewhelming engine is embarassing. This is a woman that never gave 2c about what she was driving. Sold the car , got her a Wrangler ..
Mav is using same platform as Ford Bronco Sport, Ford Escape, Ford Focus hence the reason bellow 30k they are ok vehicles if you need the open bed but over 30k and if you look for a truck to do truck stuff you can find better options and get more out of your money
Trucks I have/had :
F250 manual 7.3 L V8 diesel manual
Ram Rebel 5.7L V8
2022 Ford Raptor (sold because of cam-phasers)
2022 and 2023 Ram TRX (sold because of what I made on both got me the Rebel for free or almost free)

Define moving goods. A mav can definitely do that. Also your definition would eliminate old rangers.

To be fair I said near 30. That hated cylinder deactivation works. Surprised the hell outta me. 3.31 gears don't hurt either.

My 350 survived a 100+ foot pine falling on it and drove put from under it. It epitomized Built Ford Tough. I'll never leave the family.
I would love it, however, if Ford furnished a flat bed for it!

oxford dictionary defines a truck as

Mav cant do any of the above.
I see Mavericks transporting goods and materials for businesses and private owners all the time, so you have to admit that it can do at least some of the above. Even your F250 couldn't transport troops. Well, maybe a few in the cab, but generally it's limited to transporting goods and materials just like the Maverick is. ~1500 lbs of payload and up to 4000 lbs towing weight in the case of the Maverick.

Regardless of your Oxford dictionary quote, you seem to be approaching your opinion in relative terms; relative to larger trucks you've owned that you consider "real" trucks. In your mind, what is it exactly that separates those vehicles from the Maverick? Why are they trucks and the Maverick isn't? How do you classify the Maverick if not as a truck?

I'm curious, does this picture fit into your opinion of what a truck is? If not, what do you call it?
