I'm more concerned with rock chips on the hood edge...the first one I ordered didn't even cover it and I sent it back immediately. I like the hardware provided with this one. Did you have any issues with the install?

Looks like a winner. Have you noticed any hood shaking at highway speeds and have you run it through a car wash?

Back in the late '90s and early 2000s when I had these and they were popular I always got the clear ones and had them PTM'd. Look much cleaner than the black, not sure if they still offer the clear option for painting.

No shake at highway speed. Covers leading edge of hood. Has enough rise to deflect bugs. I've had no rocks hit my windshield, but I don't do any freeway driving and I avoid following large trucks. Hardware and deflector appear to be well made. No issues after 5k miles. Never been through a car wash.

I haven't used a car wash, mostly because I get home afterwards and find areas that weren't clean, so I end up hand washing those areas anyway. I have aftermarket mudflaps and am concerned about damage from the car wash, and the deflector will add to that anxiety...besides, I prefer a hands-on approach with the things I care enough about.

Just installed mine last weekend. Wasn’t too difficult, but I followed the advice of another MTC thread and loosely attached the metal brackets to the shield before mounting it. Makes it much easier and can align the little paint films better.

One word of warning: there are ZERO extra hardware in the kit, (disappointing at this price point) so be very careful with dropping anything. I dropped one of the hole screws into the engine bay, and spent 15 minutes fishing for it with a magnet rod.

Never found it, but I did discover that a Sauder furniture screw is a close match that worked great.

Easy on. Looks good. No hood shake. I have been thru a Kwik Star automatic car wash twice. Water only, BRUSHLESS with no problem.

How easy is it to remove, in order to wash the hood underneath?
I had a ventshield smoked plastic hood protector on one of my old 1993 Rangers. I was amazed at how filthy the hood got underneath it.

I loved that truck.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered one from EGR along with the in-channel window covers. They should be here soon. I was never a fan of the stuck on types and I know these additions to my 24 XLT Hybrid will be fantastic.
