are you related to GPSman by chance? you have the same style of launching ridiculous statements and refusing to back them up with facts. (refer to other posts is weak.)
I'll admit I've thought the same thing. Especially touting their pedigree as 'hybrid subject matter expert' involving a shockingly similar account about their part in a building a 1st/2nd gen Escape PHEV conversion.

Also with an alto XLT hybrid, to add more circumstantial evidence...

Is this the same guy with 30-40 different banned accounts? I used to save the list of names, but abandoned it months ago as he got less and less entertaining.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... All-Wheel Drive Hybrid, new towing options, a 13.2" display...

You're missing the really big news - Velocity Blue is back!!!
Yes! I thought the blue on the spy photos looked a lot more Velocity than Atlas. The AWD Hybrid, Bigger screens, Wireless Android Auto, Intelligent Access standard on XLT, standard Lane keep aid (IDK if this is really worth much), tow hitch standard on XLT all make this a lot harder not to buy than I had hoped. I just got my 2024 Atlas blue delivered a couple months ago after I gave up waiting for AWD Hybrid. I also really preferred Velocity over Atlas, but didn't even think there was a chance of it coming back. I guess I'll list mine for about what I paid and see if anyone would buy it off me.

Who cares, he has good information. If you don't agree or like it ignore. I'm no hybrid expert but am decently well versed in them and the things he says line up with my knowledge of them as well.

FWIW.

Now that the cubby hole next to the infotainment screen is gone, does anyone have any ideas on the best place to mount a phone holder/adapter?
With a giant 13" screen, wireless CarPlay and AndroidAuto I'd just sit my phone in the charging cubby below - no point to using my phone when all functions can be controlled by the infotainment. If you have to use some other work/share-ride stuff on a phone at the same time i could potentially see using a vent clip mount next to it on the right?

Ford keeps talking about an affordable small BEV truck as part of this BEV skunk works thing. I'm hoping a bit earlier, like 2027 or 2028. And I'm hoping they don't just cancel the project. A truly small BEV truck (or a 2-door Bronco-Sport-like BEV) is #1 on my vehicular dream list.
Yeah a vehicle about 70% the size of the Lightning would be pretty nice. EVs can tow a lot as well, just not super far which doesn't matter to me. Would love a slightly nicer (interior wise) EV Maverick that goes 250 miles or so. The Rivian is nice but still a little too big and expensive, and the F150 is just too big for my usage.

I find that very difficult to believe. How exactly are you expecting a piston engine to run a generator which then is immediately consumed by an electric motor, and you think that it's going to result in more output (torque) than the gas motor alone produces?

there are efficiency losses in generation. not gains.

the battery is required. if it's discharged more rapidly than it's charged, which is very likely when towing, I cannot concieve how the electric traction motor is supplied power from the internal combustion engine and have a result that is more torque than the gas engine itself produces.

it certainly can use the gas engine and traction motor together each with high output, but that has to rely on stored battery power.
You don’t understand how Fords eCVT works. It uses a planetary gear system to ADD the torque from the gas motor to the torque from an electric motor to produce the output. There’s an electric motor on the output side as well. The motor on the output side can also act as a generator and that’s how they recharge the battery when braking. The electronic controls set the speed of both electric motors and that’s what determines the output speed (and torque). It’s very clever and very efficient.

Ok so I watched several videos to try to see some details
The tremor from the launch event has the auto start stop button in the usual place in the console
Couldn’t see the spot on the XLT to see if that one is unchanged
On the XLT I noticed the lighting control panel has the foglight button (just like the F150 panel) even though no fog lights are shown
Fog light button not on lariat or Tremor (I watched a ton of videos)
Also on the XLT the engine for sure is a different one than the previous 2.0L
Air filter and intake are completely different
Quite a change in the look of the engine compartment
The Lariat Hybrid appears to look the same to me

Still watching videos to see if I notice anything else not mentioned

PS some of these YouTube “reviewers” are terrible

Nah, I presume GPSMan got banned for blowing up at a site sponsor over an entirely silly reason.

Damn. I'm having some buyers remorse on my 24 Lariat that I literally just came home with Monday.
Realizing a lot of the lariat features just don't offer much benefit to me and I wouldn't miss them.

no, actually, I do. I'm just pretty certain that producing more torque than the 2.5 alone can produce requires using HV battery.

works great in normal, in town driving. towing I bet it runs out of HV battery fast and cannot recharge it when there is a large, constant demand for torque.

... like I already mentioned.

I didn't mention the conservation of energy, that was Automate. but he is right. I know how it works when there's battery capacity OR the load / torque demand is low and the ICE can in fact generate enough to charge at the same time that a LOW amount of torque is generated by the traction motor.
