yes, absolutely.

I do not doubt that a Maverick hybrid awd towing 4k could eventually get through the Eisenhower tunnel from Denver to Breckenridge. physically, I bet it could. I certainly wouldn't have any interest in going 30 mph up those steep grades or stopping halfway to avoid overheating.

those were things in the 70s, 80s and before, but today we have people that expect to be able to tow at or near the speed of normal traffic.
I've already done it in a 2022 Hybrid.
You just can't make these things overheat. On the steepest parts, always faster than semis.

Yes, same as the 2020+ Escape Hybrid AWD
When I drove my loaner 2024 escape hybrid AWD it actually shifted when I drove it. My ECVT trans in the maverick never shifts so are you sure it's the same transmission?

In Tow/Haul mode the hybrid does not use the battery much at all.

It goes into what I call "locomotive mode".

The ICE runs in the ideal power rpm and generates electricity that goes straight to the traction motor. The battery does not a thing unless you are braking or passing.

Trains figured out this was the best way to tow 20,000 TONS years ago.

The fact your hybrid does this too should not be shocking.

People OVER estimate horsepower requirements.

Horsepower is for ACCELERATING.

Cruising unloaded needs only 20 HP.
Towing 4k on flat needs only 50 HP.
Towing 4k up "The Gauntlet" only needs 100 to 120 HP.

The hybrid has it. And then some.

In Sport mode it has simulated shifts to make you feel better. It's still a eCVT.

The Maverick eCVT does simulate shifts if you use sport mode

I didn't read all 24 pages, but, 41k is the price of entry for a Tremor now??

Besides the fake leather, B&O sound system, Sync 4 and copilot 360, it appears to be comparably equipped to my '23 XLT Tremor with lux and remote start, except.... it's 9 grand more than I paid for mine!! And yes, I did notice it now only comes as an add on to the Lariot trim level.

That's not keeping pace with inflation - that's setting the pace of inflation!

Between the much higher costs and the ugly front end, I'll be keeping what I have.

Whats weird is it also fake shifts in tow/haul mode at low and medium pedal pressure, but the fake shifts go away if you floor it.

I see we have a fan of the fantastic DCT that Ford put in the Focus and Fiesta. You may be the only person in history to ask ford for that again lol
Lol, in theory I liked the idea, but it was literally crap in practice. I only called it out since it was stated that the GT was the only DCT Ford offered. Wet clutch is the way to go imo.

I don’t understand why adding AWD to the XL trim is a $2,500 option while adding AWD to the XLT trim is a $905 option.

Something doesn’t add up. Is there an error with the posted pricing guide or is Ford giving a $1,595 AWD discount to XLT orders?

it won't, but the DCTs he mentioned cannot tow anywhere 2k.

I concede it's not impossible, and I like sequential DCTs. The 8F has a hell of a lot more than 2 clutches and it can lock the torque converter in 4th gear (which is like 25 mph). I think there's a lot less performance advantage of a DCT compared the 8F, versus the automatic transmissions we had 20 years ago.

My biggest doubt is cost. I really don't see that happening compared to a 8F that just skips 2nd.
FWIW, any wet plate DCT has more than 2 clutches. The dry setup they used in the Focus/Fiesta, and in the Fiat, et. al., was literally 2 clutches and was (to your point on those specifically) absolute garbage. That being said, I would be surprised if Ford offered that same unit anywhere, given the warranty extensions, recalls, failure rates, etc. on that unit.

It's a bundle and save thing.

Maybe all AWD Hybrids must have upgraded wheels. The XLT already has upgraded wheels but not the XL, so you have to pay extra for the wheel upgrade on the XL.
