I have a 2024 Lariat Hybrid. I'm curious if anyone with a hybrid has a lot of noise when the A/C compressor runs? I seem to get a reasonably loud variable "buzzing / grinding" sound when the compressor runs that to me just does not sound right. I think it has happened since I bought it earlier this year but I'm not positive about that fact. Is this normal for a battery-operated compressor or do I have an issue I need to bring up to Ford?

Mine seems a bit louder than some other vehicles I've owned, but I attributed it to the fact that when I've actually listened to it outside the truck, the electric A/C compressor was running w/o the ICE running, at the time. It may also be louder when you have the HVAC set to MAX A/C or somewhere near MAX fan & compressor output.

If you suspect something's wrong with yours, take it to the dealer. If they say there's nothing wrong, and if they have a Hybrid Maverick on the lot for sale, ask a sales person if you can look at it. Then turn on the A/C on the lot truck and compare it to yours.

If you use remote start on a hot day and the ICE isn't running the pumps are pretty loud. It's more like a loud whirring sound then a buzzing or grinding. It's definitely a pump/fan sound if you know what your listening for.

Here is the sound of my air conditioner. . Mine is actually louder without the engine running.
Both air conditioner and engine running till 5:41 then it's just the AC no engine.
Had to do a video of what I recorded. I don't know how to change audio formats.

Hi there, Glen. This AC noise concern doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your Maverick. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? To send a private message, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation". I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end.

I take it that you recorded this outside the truck.

Also was the hood open?

I experience similar noises but not at that volume when outside and the hood closed.

When inside and the doors are closed I hardly notice the noise.

Hood closed. Standing in front of the grill.
Having had a Chevy Volt it same type of air conditioning system. My Maverick is definitely louder
My reply and audio recording was for the original poster "CaptKirk"
He started the thread and never stated whether he was inside his truck or outside here is his post below.

If you have a smartphone you probably have a recorder on it why don't you try the same experiment took me about 2 minutes??
I'd like to compare the sounds.
Maybe you'll have better luck posting an audio file than I did.
Good luck

It's pretty loud.

It's not like an older car.

This is 100% electric and some form of variable speed / variable displacement compressor.

Surprising, but normal.
Way noisier than a standard AC compressor on a car.
A standard AC compressor on a car is pretty darn quiet when it operates, so quiet in fact you can hear the clicking of the electromagnetic clutch engaging and disengaging.

I too have been having the same issue on my 2024 Hybrid. Took it to the dealer yesterday, and they couldn't duplicate the problem.

Also note that the condenser is a three phase motor driven. If you are more than 2°F from the set temp it will run faster to increase BTU output. Speed of condenser will also increase as fan speed is increased and will make more noise. If you have AC on automatic the condenser and fan speed will vary much more and make less noise as temp of cabin approaches the set temperature.
Also: when in auto set the fan to the max speed you want auto to use. Then if you want more fan just put it on max cool and AC will turn every thing on full blast until you put it back on automatic and the fan and condenser will drop to their appropriate speed depending on temperature difference from set temp.
