Ticking noise - hybrid

I've had my Hybrid for a week now and only have 200 miles city driving so far. No probems yet, but I have noticed a ticking noise when the truck is in reverse. I hear the noise whether or not the truck is moving. I do not hear it in anything other than reverse. Is this normal or mam I the only one with this noise?

Yes, sounds like the reverse beep noise. If you hang around near the hybrid for a few minutes after driving it, you'll also hear it make some audible clicks at different intervals. My best guess is that at least one set of the clicks is the vehicle checking all the locks, and the others may be related to some shutdown mode on the hybrid system.

A reverse alarm makes sense, but this ticking noise isn't very loud. Also such an alarm isn't mentioned anywhere in the 530 page owners manual.

My assumption is that the noise is considerably louder from behind the vehicle than what you hear in the driver's seat.

It could be that while backing it up it is rewinding the spring to operate the hybrid motor! Just a thought!

Mine makes all kinds of crazy-ass noises after I park it. I have no idea what it is up to, calling the mothership, reconfiguring, no clue. But I do know the backup sound now. I just think of it as the truck greeting me.

My Hybrid XLT does the same thing...if i park it and 10-20 minutes later walk by the Hybrid with key in my pocket I hear clicking noises all around the truck....like lt's relocking the doors...have not figured the clicking noise out. All Hybrids have a beeping tone when in reverse, since pedestrians can not hear the motor running when in Electric mode.

I'm on the edge of parking him and then just sitting there on a stool and trying to figure it all out. Is it key proximity? Is it...me? I like Babar but I don't get all activated when I get close.

I appreciate everyone's comments. I'm convinced now that the noise (actually more like a "ting") is a reverse warning. Strange to me that something like this wouldn't be mentioned in the owners manual. "Normal" ICE cars don't have this. We hybrid newbies should be warned lest we think our new vehicle has a problem, like I did.

I have that noise like something knocking on the hood or roof. The dealer doesn't hear it. I told them you have to drive it for a bout 10 minutes and then park. Get out sit down.......clunk clunk clunk. It's back in the shop for a list of troubles. I said "don't call me until it's all fixed". Update. Battery had a dead cell and may be why some tHings are problematic. Drops Bluetooth, air con fan is extremely loud, ringing or ear piercing noise while driving with windows down, clunk clunk noise and a few other things. Oh a fun one.......ford pass shut down while I had my keys locked in the truck. I was kayaking only with my phone. Half hour waiting until it finally unlocked. My first new car and I'm old. So I'm disappointed beyond belief.
