Take it in for warranty replacement. They will replace it with one that has a plastic backing. They did this for me.

Ford just replaced mine this morning, with the new style rubber grips. I ordered mine with the truck so it is covered under the three year warranty. Took delivery at end of May 23, by Aug the felt was coming off and Ford were going to replace the cover with the new style but Ford at the last minute decided just to replace the felt. The service manager said that it was good that it's covered under the 3 yr warranty. The felt was fine all winter but started to come off in the heat.
I have an infra red temp gun and took readings. Ambient temp 32C (89F). Temp on bottom of aluminum rail where the glue is, 72C (161F).

UPDATE:
My man Jared @ Price Ford Turlock was in contact with the manufacturer abt the ongoing issue. He got them to finally send a replacement cover. I appreciate he was in constant contact with me during the process. I do miss that ford logo, but I’m more grateful that I won’t have goo all over the bed and burned hands.

I am scheduled to get mine replaced like you.. .....Do you like the newer cover?? My cover is doing great except for the felt is gone and nothing but sticky glue left. So, Ford is replacing. However, I just want to make sure that the fit is good with the replacement.

It’s is literally the same as the original minus the ford slats and gooey felt. The rubber pieces are there instead of felt.

I purchased mine originally through ford accessories before I had my truck, using the special accessories % discount. It was shipped to dealer. Since shipped to dealer, issues/concerns are dealt through dealer. Had the purchase been sent directly to you, then you wld deal directly with online cust svc. The felt issue begin 10 months in and the manufacturer was reluctant to replace the only replacing the felt with ‘better’ glue.

How did someone on the design team not call BS on the tonneau felt? Something as complicated as adaptable cruse and blind spot detection work perfectly then someone sloppily glues cheap felt on a bed cover. After reglueing twice, I finally just pulled all the felt off. Good riddance.

Problem is the aluminum gets real hot, REALLY hot. Like another member posted it got 161 degrees F on the aluminum siding. I didn’t spend $1200 to have to wear gloves just to rollup the cover. Complacency restricts progress.

Ford didn't design the tonneau, BAK did. And the felt falling off of them has been a a well-documented issue with that design predating its use in the Maverick.

I'm sure there are 000s of parts on a Ford that Ford did not design. It has Ford's name on it though. 'Well documented' maybe, "cheap" absolutely.

Yes well know design choice problem by BAK the oem. They changed the design once it became evident. Customers that are squeaky enough get replacements with a non-glued non-felt version.

I’d buy a used glued felt version if it was complete and I could get it reasonably.
