I have a 2024 XL Hybrid. It doesn’t have a rear sliding window and as far as I recall , that feature was not an option when I ordered the truck. I read somewhere that there are after market options to switch out the solid rear window with a unit that has a sliding opening. Has anybody tried this? I also heard a rumor that Ford purposely did not offer this option on the XL in an effort to entice the buyer to go for the more expensive Lariat.

Yes, that's the whole point behind trim levels. It's not some secret.

As far as the rear window there's a few threads on replacement options but from what I recall it's pretty cost prohibitive and not really worth the effort.

It's not just the XL, if you want a sliding window now it's only the powered one on the Lariat. There is a removable aftermarket product called "The Breezer". Search thread "removable rear window".

Back in the early '70s and before. You could order a car ala carte meaning.
If you wanted power steering you ordered it. If you wanted power brakes you ordered it. If you wanted AM/FM radio you ordered it. If you wanted tilt steering wheel you ordered it etc.
In and around the late 70s early '80s car manufacturers started to package options. if you wanted a tilt steering wheel you got cruise control like it or not.
If you wanted power windows you got power locks too.
Then they started making different trim levels XL, XLT, LARIAT with those options added in if you wanted them you have to you had to get the whole trim package. As it is today.
I hope this helps take care.

I have had sliding rear windows and for me it's only usefull if they are powered. If you have to climb into the rear seat to open and close it you will barely use it. It's great though prevents buffering when driving with windows open.

I don't see the need now that I have a tonneau, the whole point was throwing your beer cans into the bed. Would've been hit or miss with the back seat anyway.

;^)
THANK YOU, I needed a good laugh this morning, but your right.

Ya, it's an "Option World"... :(
I did have Sliders in my first two, Rangers.
2nd Ranger had it; 1st Ranger, I had it installed at the Dealership... $200 and it took only 30 minutes total (old-out. New-in)...
Those were the Days..

I was disappointed that it wasn’t an option in the XLT package, but I figured I really didn’t need it because I had the roof window.

Buy one and glue it in yourself
The motor part just needs 12v and a switch

Amazing! I’m going to check places around my area for this. I was quoted something in the thousands for a sliding rear window replacement

THanks for picture, I did not realize its trim was that invasive making it such a small window now. Do you happen to have a picture with Breezer removed or vented?

Thanks
The above picture I posted was not my picture / it came from Breezer.

See video below of one a Jeep:
