Took a long weekend trip a couple hours from home to do a little pre-fishing for an upcoming derby. I wanted to accurately gauge my fuel mileage while towing my boat. For reference, I’m towing a Crestliner 17 foot aluminum bass boat with a curb weight of 800 lbs. Plus trailer, motor, fuel and fishing gear I put it at right around 2000lbs. The drive is through hilly terrain, and I drove the speed limit the entire way, mostly 110km/h (68mph) with approximately 50 Kms of it at 80km/h (50mph) on the back roads. There was also a few trips back and forth through the campground to launch and retrieve the boat. As shown, over 6 hours of use I covered 467kms and got mileage of 11.8L/100kms (20mpg). Towing the boat is effortless in this truck, launching and retrieving the boat on a gravel and sand boat launch was no issue, and I’m plenty happy with the gas mileage considering the conditions. And in case anyone was wondering, pre-fishing went well, and my hopes are high for the derby in a few weeks.
