Recirculated air not working?

Does anyone else have an issue with the AC still letting in outside smells when the recirc button is engaged?
I have not had that issue with cars in the past...

I've never had a car seal well enough to keep outside smell from coming in.

My recirculation button never stays on long. Same on my wife's Fiat 500. On our Toyota RAV4 the button stays on when pressed.

I drive past a salt marsh, and sometimes I can smell it with the recirc on and sometimes I cannot. It's annoying.

You'll find some posts detailing the open spots beside the rear seats, the purposeful burbing port.
I never had a car be great at keeping outside air out.

Some smells or dust I knew I was going thru I'd hit recirc and that would be enough.

If I saw a skunk on the road I'd quickly turn to fan 0, and hit recirc and hope it blocked most.

you need to have the AC on. Just air and it'll shut off. Mine never cycles with ac on.

My old car would turn the a/c on if you select recirc.

Disclaimer: My info is not specific to Mav and admittedly is old and from manual A/C in days of yore.

Even with "recirc" set and engaged, the system recirculates about 80% and draws in 20% outside air.

I have no idea if this holds true in the Mav but that would explain why recirc does not block outside odors, etc.

I was advised by service that it only recirculated about 80%. I did not have this problem with other cars/trucks I have owned. Oh well. Seems some fresh air is needed for health reasons.
