I just removed all the LASFIT bulbs from the rear lights of my 2023 XLT Hybrid, including the turn signals and reverse lights. I installed them in July after picking up my vehicle. Initially, I loved the LASFITS, but I started experiencing hyper flashing if the blinker stayed on too long. I contacted LASFIT, and they sent me a new pair of front switchbacks as a replacement, but the hyper flashing issue persisted. Later, I discovered that my right rear taillight was not coming on, although the brake and signal lights worked. Switching the light from Auto to Off turned on the running lights, but one of the bulbs barely lit up, even though it had been working earlier. I tested it multiple times, but the LEDs barely lit up each time.
While my reverse lights were still functioning, I decided to remove them as well and revert to the factory incandescent bulbs. LASFIT is sending me new bulbs for the rear lights as well, but they are back ordered until April or later. At this point, it doesn't make sense to keep using them if they are prone to premature failure. Additionally, I still have the taillight recall that needs to be addressed, and it's likely that they will stop working due to the recall update. Even then, I still have one bulb that barely lights up.
Although I like the brightness of the LASFIT bulbs, they seem to be unreliable. LEDs should not fail prematurely within a few months, especially considering their price. While they are warrantied, replacing the taillight bulb each time it fails risks damaging the housing or wires and connectors. It's not worth the risk in my opinion. Yes, I know there are other brands, but honestly, I have seen reports of the same problems, so I don't think spending more on a different brand is the solution.
I spent over an hour removing and replacing the bulbs with incandescent and reinstalling the housing. I'm still using the Switchbacks for the front lights because I like them and they are easy to replace. However, for the rear lights, I prefer the reliability of incandescent bulbs for now. Maybe when I receive the updated replacements from LASFIT, I will reconsider, but for now, incandescent seem to be the more reliable option.
Below are photos of the Good and Bad LED.
