I changed at 3000 and at 6000. I was told the truck will tell me to change oil again when I hit 10K.

Not exactly sure but I did read that it is normal to have a slight bit of metal shaving in the first oil change (from machining the new engine) my thought is too get all that stuff out sooner rather than later. The second oil change at 1,000 miles looked much better. No sedement at the bottom either

Yea lots of posts on here from us early changers and even some of the regular interval guys reporting the same. Most of us opt for a change within the first 1k-ish give or take then again at 3k and so on and so forth. The manual even states 3-5k for the EB's. Personally, I do 3 oil analysis' and then make my judgement call but until then, it's 3k each time or winter/summer whichever comes first. I also bought used, so no idea what was done before me but so far everything looks good. A year into it at 16k total and on my 2nd oil report coming up here soon.

Also, now you should do your PTU/RDU and then your tranny. I'm about to pull the trigger on my tranny for the first time too. But the PTU/RDU... oof... that was some awful looking fluid for such low mileage. Less than a gallon is the reason. Every 20-30k for me on those two.

I have the Maverick hybrid, 2024 I change my at 1500 miles. I’m glad I did ! The factory oil filter is very small. Now I have the standard filter . The oil was green, some settlement in the bottom of the drain pan. Pretty easy to do . roughly around 50 bucks. Oil and filter.

How many miles when you did the PTU and trans?

I also had my oil changed, with a new Purolator Boss filter, at less than 500 miles on the engine. The service guy looked at me like I was wacko and asked why I'd change the oil with such low miles. I just smiled and said, "Because it's my new truck".

In my youth, did mechanic work. Engine rebuilds. Understands hone cylinders n piston rings wear. And bearings on crankshaft, rods, cam. Seen wear of those things when tearing down engines, what do wears.
For my truck, decided to do oil analysis at 1,xxx mile range, before doing any oil change. Sample analysis revealed what I expected, nothing unusual. What caught my attention was the oil viscosity, it was low. Given that the truck built in Mexico, could only imagine what oil was used.
I had the oil changed at local Ford dealer Quick Change.

note - at same time had wife's Escape oil analyzed. It too has low viscosity number.

I inquired with Blackstone about this, advising them I ran engine few minutes before, my sample was not warm, rather cool. They advised not a concern, they heat oil sample some before testing it.

In my 19 Ranger there is in a sub menu a screen that tells me percentage of oil life. I have always changed mine at 50%, which is usually around 5 to 6k miles. Does the Maverick have an oil life screen?

It comes from the bottom of the crankcase oil. It's nothing but a production by-product from assembly. All of the engine oil goes thru the filter first and that residue stuff is just residue that the oil pump can't reach. It will be less and less with every oil change. Save your money.

Yes it does - it is the same or similar to your Ranger. In the menu on the dash or your FordPass account!
