New battery costs money. They will spend three times the cost of a battery trying to find something, ANYTHING, to avoid that.

Windshield dirt or other obstruction causes this. A quick spray and wipe of the wipers should be all that's needed.

There is no obvious obstruction. The windshield has been cleaned twice with no impact.

Probably a bad camera then.

Yesterday, I took a call from the Ford dealership that had my truck to service several faults I identified in previous posts above and the taillight software recall. The caller stated the truck was ready and because the work was not covered by warranty, total charges would be just under $500. I was taken back with their reasoning that the faults were due to my modifications impacting the electrical system. They said there was a massive draw on the 12V battery causing it to fall below 25% and shutting down systems, including those reliant on the forward camera. They also claimed power used for “many aftermarket lights and electronics” were incorrectly fused.

I went in today to discuss my disagreement with their evaluation with the service manager and tech that did the work. I was prepared with photos of my two previous Mavericks all with the same mods and no history of similar problems my ’24 was experiencing. I also had screen shots of several MTC posts to back up my assertions. The lead post of this chain set the date of the initial fault being identified preceding the single 5A fuse tap I installed in the 1-3 triple micro fuse position. I claimed and they accepted that all interior mods (ambient floor well lights, MPH HUD, front and rear dash cams) were hardwired into 12V power ports and isolated from the faults that had been identified. The only electrical components tied to the passenger compartment fuse panel was a single 50” under the hood LED strip and three six-bulb LED strips used as Raptor-style grill lights that are powered through my engine compartment switch panel control box. The box is connected to the hybrid’s 12V positive terminal and has a switched line running from the interior fuse panel.

Bottom line – After an hour of give and take, I left with my truck and nothing out of pocket. The dealership is Lynn Layton Ford in Decatur, AL. I purchased my truck from them at MSRP with no additional dealer admin charges. They picked up my truck from my home (approx. 25mi) and left a new Edge as a loaner, after giving me an immediate service appointment, all without my having to ask. Resolution of my dispute and the associated charges was conducted cordially, and I felt they gave me appropriate consideration leading to the result I was seeking. They have my recommendation for both sales and service!

I wanted to bump this chain back to the top to draw appropriate attention to one of the good guys, Lynn Layton Ford of Decatur, AL. I purchased one of my three Mavericks from the dealership. I paid MSRP without any additional dealer admin charges.. Yesterday, after initially seeking to charge me $500 for a service appointment they considered outside of warranty coverage, they listened to my argument refuting their finding and forgave the total amount. Throw in an immediate service appointment, free pickup, and a new loaner vehicle and I am an extremely satisfied customer.

Consider yourself lucky. The majority of dealers are going to question an electrical issue when the owner has modified the electrical system! Hope the issues are resolved. If they pop up again, I think you'll have less ground to stand on the second time and it won't be free any more.

I do. That is why I wanted to draw attention to the dealership. Their willingness to discuss the issue and eventually accept my position that the work was appropriately covered by the warranty was not what I have come to expect from car dealerships.
